Make sure you're not in hurry.
This is one of the most over-rated brunches in NYC. It's expensive, the food is ordinary, and the service is disappointing. There are so many better places to go for brunch. No wonder Country has closed down. Cannot imagine the Cafe at Country will last much longer in this economy.

Nice decor/food but not service
Came here with a friend on a Friday night and we were promptly greeted and seated for our reservation by a lovely hostess. Drinks and bread were given, and at first the waiter was attentive. We both had good salads to start and both had scallops which were fantastic! Perfectly seared with a light sauce and vegetables, some of the best scallops I have had. We also shared a side of potatos which were very good. Thats where the service basically ended. It took us 30 minutes between getting our dessert menus and our actual desserts. When we were ready to leave we had to wait an additional 20 minutes and ask the bus boy for the check. Another 15 minutes before I got fed up and gave my credit card to the hostess who was nice and apologetic but thats what the waiter should have been. The tables around us also complained about the service. But the food was very good.

Good Brunch, Prepare for Slow Service
The menu is inventive and the food is really good, but unfortunately the staff has not been trained to make sure customers are satisfied. We waited at lease 10 minutes for coffee, had to ask EVERY time we needed something like milk, ketchup, coffee refills. The server NEVER checked in, which was very disappointing. Will we return? Probably. But our expectations will be much lower.

charming good food.
I'd heard about the Cafe at Country from several people. It lived up to the hype! In the Carlton Hotel, with the more expensive Country upstairs this restaurant is a find. The food was delicious, the service perfect. The atmosphere is charming, looking up at the sidewalk above it gave me a feeling of old New York. Dinner was $100 PP for four people, that was sharing 3 appitizers, 4 entrees, 2 desserts and 6 glasses of wine. I would say it was moderately priced and worth a go!
