Burgers and Donuts
The burger here is awesome - juicy, flavorful and rich. Try the donuts too!

New standard for Ev brunch
If you thought dinner here was great (and it is), try the brunch. Brunch is off the charts.

Very disappointing
The only three words to describe The Brindle Room: salty, bland, and disappointing. I had been wanting to try the Brindle Room for a while and based on good reviews I was expecting at the very least a decent meal, what I got instead was salt, no flavor, and poor service. I had the oyster to start which seemed good enough except they come sitting on a bed of sea salt, literally. Unfortunately I had a bite of the oyster and pure sea salt which tainted the appetizer. For the entree- my boyfriend had the fried chicken which literally had no flavor. The batter tasted like it came from a package and the mashed potatoes tasted like salt and cream cheese, terrible. I had the crispy salmon which came out raw in the middle. I sent the salmon back, and it emerged for the second time in exactly the same condition- completely raw in the middle and the salt was overwhelming. I also want to mention that our waitress did not tell us the specials, but 5 minutes after we sat down told the table next to us them. For such a limited menu the chef really should be able to get it right but the food is completely drenched in salt. I will never return.

Neighborhood gem
Finally made it here after walking passed for months. I was so pleasantly surprised!! The food was thoughtfully prepared and delicious. Started with the kale salad, which had a great balance of acid, crunch, salt and savory. Next to the baked oysters. OHMYGOD. I'm always partial to raw, but these could make me forget raw was ever an option. The most delightful explosion of flavor in your mouth, with the creamy leeks and perfectly crunchy bread topping making the juicy oyster explode in your mouth. Entrees were the pork chop over panzanella--loved, if not a little salty, and fried chicken--good, could've used a bit more salt. Great cocktails and wine, and wonderful service. This place was so warm and cozy I can't wait to return.

check it out
went here on a tuesday at 7:00 for dinner. My girlfriend and I were the only 2 people in this ~10 table restaurant. The hostess/waitress/bartender was very friendly, informative, and attentive. The spreads were great - we started with 2 before moving onto the battered shrimp which was also great. we went back for another spread before trying the chicken w/ porcini jus. The chicken was good, but it seemed like salt was a main ingredient rather than something used to accentuate the main flavors. The smashed potato side was a bit too salty as well. All in all, its a good stop to make if you're into cozier more intimated undiscovered restaurants

Great addition to East Village
Stopped here only because I randomly crossed over on 10th on the way home. 2 hours later I was full and very happy. Food is great.

Undiscovered gem
This place is obviously a labor of love. The space is narrow and cramped, the decor not much to look at, but the food... The reason to go is the food. The menu is pretty eclectic with no particularly discernible theme, but everything is tasty and flavorful. This is just robust hearty comfortable food. Not super refined or delicate, and yet the cooking is really well-balanced. Good value depending on how you order. The spreads are definitely big enough to share among several people, though you end up fighting your tablemates for the last bite. All the proteins, from fish to meat, is just perfectly done. For instance, I normally don't like duck because it's too fatty, but here it's really nicely done, with crisp skin, barely pink flesh and great flavor. The location is a bit out of the way, so I've only been a few times. Too bad. It's not quite a destination, but an excellent option for the neighborhood. It's one of those places you walk out wanting to go back right away, and you would, if it were a little more conveniently located.
