    yum

the rarebit fondue is awesome, and they don't skimp on the amount of yummy things to dip into it! best fondue I've had thus far, feeds two and you won't leave hungry. cozy, romantic spot, though slightly cramped. I def recommend this place!!

    Not like in Switzerland

For those looking for an authentic fondue experience, The Bourgeois Pig is more of an appetizer than the real deal. I had the mushroom fondue which came in a small ceramic bowl and had too thick of a consistency. If you're looking for something similiar you had in the Alps, I would not recommend this place.

    Really Good

Went here last night, and really enjoyed it. Although we had to sit on barstools with a ledge as a table (the only seats left), we found the ambiance to be very nice and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. This is a good date place. We had the seafood fondue - excellent, a charcuterie plate - very good, and an apple tart for dessert - very good. They do have a very large drink menu (no liquor). Try the white sangria! We left stuffed and happy. Not cheap, but worth it.

    Extensive Drink menu? Huh?

Just went last night and, while the atmosphere was great, I don't really understand how they have, as noted below, an extensive drink menu? They have an extensive wine menu, about 6 Belgian beers, then a fair number of Wine and Beer Cocktails. I enjoyed my 10 buck Lambic+Champagne cocktail but, it should definitely be noted that they DON'T serve liquor here!

    Worth the wait.

The host was kind of impolite but there ends my complaints. Ate here last night and was pleasantly surprised. Had the tartine sampler, fondue and a bottle of wine for under 70 dollars. If that is expensive you need to move out of New York. Our waitress was prompt and friendly and then food was well proportioned and very delicious. Its not somewhere you can eat everyday but the perfect place for a special date. No pretense once you get passed the host.

Great spot, fair price, great service

Went here on the weekend. This place has a great vibe. Not the most original, but they do it particularly well - it has a swank New Orleans/french jazz lounge feel with chaise lounges, antique upholstered chairs, old vocal jazz, etc. Its small and a bit cramped, but it's part of the charm. The fondue was solid - it wasn't an American knockoff, we had the classic Swiss gruyere. The drink menu was huge and has some good value if you look closely. For anyone who says this place is overpriced, think again. If you post on this site, I'm going to guess you eat out a lot in Manhattan - the price point is just fine. Multiple drinks, olive plate, and fondue for 2 people came to about $60. That's really not bad in this town. And the service was the exact opposite of snooty (to the reviewer below me...might have to do with your attitude, perhaps?) and it is NOT hipster-central. The bartender handling our table was a nice guy, a competent server, and as attentive as possible. Mixed crowd, no B&T factor. Give it a shot, the substance is here.

Great drink menu and good fondue

This place is definitely expensive. However, the drink menu is very extensive and the wine cocktails are pretty good. I've been here three times in the last month and I haven't been dissappointed. The fondue is great and the cheese platter is wonderful as well. The service was decent too. Love the decor- reminds me of a set out of Moulin Rouge.
