A perfect post-museum lunch!
My 19 y/o daughter and I were on our last day of our mother-daughter trip- tired, sore feet, suffering from complete sensory overload. After a few hours at the MoMA, we wanted to relax and enjoy a nice lunch, except that I didn't make any reservations. Tried to do a walk-in at the Bar Room and were immediately seated at the bar, and were served by the friendly bartender who enthusiastically shared his recommendations. (which incidentally were spot-on). The food was exceptional. I started with the foie gras terrine and a Cabernet Franc followed by Braised tripe with chickpeas and Harissa aioli. Such flavors! I literally scraped every single bit of goodness from my plate. My daughter enjoyed her iberico Jamon appetizer and beef tenderloin. Service was very friendly but professional. We'll make sure to include the Bar Room on our list of must-dos next time we're in the area.

Very good
Went during RW for a late dinner with some friends. Table was ready. The RW menu was huge, about 10 items per course, very rare indeed. All of the food was very good, not to die for but really very good. Service was good, but not overly attentive, perhaps the formal dining area is better. That said, I can't imagine why anyone will go to the formal dining room because it is only separated by a piece of glass and shares the same kitchen for nearly 3 times the cost. Overall I was very please and will definitely go back. The vibe is a little trendy and little cramped, but not terribly so. Safron Tagliatelle was really tasty.

A wonderful dining experience
We were lucky to get reservations at the last minute and were more than pleased with this gem! Our favorites werer the Tarte Flambee, Modern Liverwurst, and the Tenderloin. As far as desserts, the Dark Chocolate tart, pistachio ice cream with chocolate bomb, and the Modern cheesecake were exquisite. The service was outstanding and the floating managers, especially Nancy, were accomoldating and professional. Our guests can't wait to return to sample more dishes. A+

disappointed
Big disappointment with a recent visit - the food was mediocre, service rushed and the atmosphere was noisy and unpleasant. This used to be a great restaurant but not anymore.

Fine Dining at its Best
I loved it here. The ambience is pretty classy and it's not pretentious at all. The staff are quite friendly. The food is very impressive and I enjoyed everything from the appetizer to the entree. Prensentation is exceptional! The menu is pricey, but it's worth it.

IS this a French film set?
Where do I begin, well for one there are those too short designer chairs which made my knees settle under my chin. The food was served in these delicate dishes, with too much flair for what it contained. The food was tastey if unimaginative. I am told the owner is a celebrity. I wish he would pay more attention to his restaurant. I had to leave half way through the meal because my back started to hurt. That was a first for me. The chairs in my child's kindergarten are far more comfortable. Overall I am not impressed. I keep asking myself why do I pay dearly for poor atmosphere or service or decor or food.
