I live a few blocks from Rays. A lot of the other reviews on here are dead on about the location being annoying and the pizza being pretty disappointing. BUT - its just not true that all the food is mediocre and that the service is no good. The bagels are pretty good, they're fresh and in this area there aren't tons of other fresh bagel options. ALSO, delivery is always lightening fast the people who answer the phone and the delivery guys are always friendly. So I get the gripe w the location and considering the abundance of amazing pizza in the area, I cannot fathom why someone would eat the pizza at Rays. Just don't let the haters steer you wrong - if you order a bagel for delivery you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Subpar pizza, oversized bagels, right on the most annoying corner of St. Mark's

I don't want to seem like a snob but I seriously question how long the people who rave about this place have lived in or around the city. The sauce is bitter the crust way too thick and the dough tasteless. The pizza is much too expensive for what it is and the staff is incredibly rude. I live a block away and I happily walk the extra few blocks to get decent pizza. The bagels are also mediocre. Reviewers mention an authentic NY taste. Well if you are referring to mid-town, tourist trap, mediocre, authenticity then yes you are correct however there are at least 10 places to get better pizza within 10 blocks.

having eaten pizza here for four years living down the block, i was happy to still know it would be delivered to my apartment when i moved to alphabet city.... not so anymore, as i was rudely hung up on and told not to call back when trying to order a pizza.

I was a regular fan, but have received such rude service I will never order again. After years of receiving regular delivery (only being 2 blocks from their location) I was hung up on and roundly told to &^[%] off. Do not support this kind of behavior. There are too many worthy pizza joints with wonderful staff and ownership.

I may have enjoyed the pizza more if the man who served it to me wasn't so completely rude. I also had no cash on me and had to pay credit, and the minimum was $6. I had to buy 2 slices of pizza, both of which were given to me lukewarm, each plain slice 2.50. My friend was waiting for me outside at a table with a bag of food, and the man at the register, who seemed to be in charge, yelled at me, saying she wasn't allowed to sit there. I calmly explained she was waiting for me, but was given attitude. I finally raised my voice to the man, telling him we're not staying to eat. They treated a customer like dirt, and the pizza was less than mediocre. First and last time.

I'm a broke intern, so any place where I can pay for my food in quartersi'm happy! Go grab a bagel and it's a cheap/easy/delicious lunch! Plain bagel, toasted with sundried tomato cream cheese...get it!
