Great Vietnamese
A friend from out of town just asked today for suggestions on where to get some good food. Of course, I suggested my two favorite Vietnamese restaurants, Thaison, being one of them, and Pho Grand (which I just finished reviewing). I've been coming to Thaison for 12+ years since my college days. The food is delicious and fresh, the staff always friendly although quick moving. It is so good. I've dined alone on many occasion stopping for a quick bite while running errands in the neighborhood, to celebrating with big groups here. I will always be a loyal customer.

Something for Everyone
inexpensive, fast, delicious. high quality food & low prices are always a plus. my family, always hard to please, meet up here once a month or so to dine. my father is vegan, my mother: very much not so. me, i avoid red meat. my sister eats anything. my brother is a picky eater. somehow we all manage to find dishes to eat and share. i recommend the summer rolls, the fried pork spring rolls (as well as the vegetarian version, so good that my sister declared they must have meat), the pho, and the seafood w/ noodles. service is fast and a bit hasty, but they do what they need to. everytime i'm here i see someone eating something and want to ask "what are you eating?" granted it's not the fanciest restaurant but for chinatown, it's cheap, delicious and clean. i do very much adore this place.

Absolutely In LOVE
I visited this restaurant on 5/3/09 I LOVED the food. I had the Spring Rolls, which were delicious as an appetizer & regret deeply not ordering Pho. (There is always next time.) The ingredients were fresh i ordered #49 a superb seasoned beef which was accompanied by a refreshing noodle. I love the fresh lettuce leaves and mint leaves they offer with the meal and the brown sauce went with everything on my plate. I went during a busy lunch hour and the waiters did everything to accomodate everyone. Food came out fast, and i am overall happy and plan to return very soon. I highly recommend this place.

Best Vietnamese in the City!
Thai S'on is the best Vietnamese food in the city- the pho broth is extremely flavorful, and the spring rolls are excellent. They include huge shrimp, and the vegetables are always very fresh...compared to other spots nearby that give tiny shrimp and wilted veggies. The Vietnamese coffee and lemon sodas are also great. The waiters are always very friendly and do a good job of turning the tables around without rushing you. I wish it was open 24/7!

I've tried most of them- Thaison is best!
Let's face it. If you are looking at reviews for Vietnamese, you probably know the difference between good, bad and ugly vietnamese food. Thaison is better than the dozens of other Vietnamese restaurants i've tried in Manhattan and Queens. Thaison is a great meal! It is cheap! They get the spices just right! They are quick with your order! If you want ambiance, go uptown- but understand you are compromising the taste of your Pho in exchange for your pulpy paper menus and poor lighting. Thaison is it.

absolute best viet spot in nyc!
i've lived in nyc for 4 yrs now and gave up trying to find a good viet spot after eating at half a dozen subpar restos. thaison is delicious, authentic and a great value for your money! service is pretty good considering you're in chinatown and i never expect top notch customer svc. my foodie friend and i have sworn to come here on a weekly basis for dinner. we tested the place w/baseline dishes: papaya salad, pho, broken rice w/ pork chop - and all tasted like home-cooking to me. let's just say that you can judge a viet resto by their pho and nuoc mam - both of which thaison has mastered.

Love it, Don't hate it.
I read these reviews and had to respond to the few haters. First off note that the good reviews far out number the bad reviews. AND note how the haters' writing voice is that of someone you'd never want to eat dinner with. Anyway, I am a chef at very well respected restaurant, I eat at Thai Son 3 to 4 times a week right before heading in to work. I really don't care if the waiters speak chinese or vietnamese, the pho is fantastic as are the sandwiches and the porkchops. And oh my does that vietnamese coffee get you up and running for the day. I can't speak for the rest of the menu because those are the only things I order. So all I have to say is take it from a trained professional this is good food. And not tipping, that is just plain shameful. I know these waiters and I am at this place all the time and have never witnessed any of the shenanigans that supposedly occured.
