Friendly service + Good food = LOVE
What a breath of fresh air this one is compared to nearby thai restaurants. It seems all the thai spots on 8th/9th avenue taste the same and are bland or the service is pushy and rude. this place however is great combination of two things i look for in a restaurant. P.S. you get the same friendly service if you call in for a delivery too, they laugh and joke with you... LOVE IT

Fantastic Food & Atmosphere
I loved this place! We chose it because of prior reviews and because we were going to the National Comedy Theatre around the corner. The atmosphere was very cozy (great date place). The food was delicious, and portions were plentiful for the price. The service was friendly, and the restaurant clean. I only have raving reviews about this place, and highly recommend it.

Good value, better than average food
I've eaten at this restaurant many times. I've found the service to be very friendly. I can only recall one time when they were slow getting me my food. I only recall two things I didn't like. One was an appetizer, fish cakes, which I thought was terrible. The other was a pad thai that looked to be burnt, so I asked for something else, and they quickly got it to me. All the other food I've had there is quite good, certainly better than average. Not quite wow! but not too far off. One complaint is I'm a vegetarian (but eat some fish) and there is food listed as vegetarian which has sauces which aren't vegetarian.

nice find
came here last night after searching on Yelp for nearby restaurants close to the 34th St & 8th Ave. Loews. got here about 8ish on a wet sunday evening and the place was surprisngly busy. we started off w/ the curry puffs & vegetable dumplings which were both yummy. we also got the Vegetarian Soup (Bean curd, mushroom, shredded vegetables, bean vermicelli, seaweed served in classic vegetarian broth) which hit the spot for a cold rainy day, i slurped every last drop. for entree we shared the Pad See-ew & the Pineapple Fried Rice which were both ok but ive had better, but not bad by any means. id definitely come back to try more items on the menu. the decor was cute and the thai iced coffee was good.

great place
I went with a friend on a Saturday night - the food was great - the service great, an interesting menu... is a little out of the way on 9th ave, but it was worth it - I would certainly go back.

Never going here again
My co-workers and I wanted to have a nice and relaxing Friday lunch. Most of us had been here before - we all thought the food was great even though the service was not. We ordered less than 5 minutes after sitting down, and almost 1 hour later, we noticed tables that sat down 30 minutes after us were getting their meals before ours. 4 out of 5 meals finally came out, and the 5th took another 15 minutes. None of the staff even apologized - they all actually acted like we shouldn't have taken issue w/ the service. The food might be tasty but going on your lunch break is a bad idea.

OK (not great, but major service misfire)
Have worked around the corner for a couple of years, and because most Thai restaurants in NYC are just OK (and really, people, have you ever had Thai food? Sripaphai? c'mon!) my expectations were low. Thai Select's food was just OK. They made the usual mistakes (too sweet, meat kinda dry) but also did some things fairly nicely (green papaya salad). The atmosphere is fairly nice, but when the host of the restaurant comes over to you just a few minutes after finishing your meal and asks you to leave so that she can turn the table, you know you're not in the right place. Now, I know they're busy for lunch, but c'mon, lady. I don't think anyone's ever asked me to do that in my entire life, and I guarantee you that you'll never get a chance to do that to me again. ;)
