    Disappointing Chicken-BBQ in the UES

I regularly order delivery and this simply was not good! Have walked many times by this place and decided to order for the first time and it was the most unpleasant food ever! Tasteless, cold and dry chicken...corn straight from the can...Mac and cheese no words to describe; simply unedible and the corn bread hard as a rock! Do not recommend this place to my worst enemy!

    Reliable, Tasty East Side BBQ

I love BBQ, but since I don't live near Southern Hospitality, Hill Country, Blue Smoke or Dinosaur, sometimes I get my fix ordering from Texas BBQ. It's not phenomenal but it's tasty, their food is solid if not amazing, and it's decently-priced if not a bit pricey for what it is. The mac and cheese is a bit runny as is the creamed spinach; the stuffing is a bit dry but not too much so. The string beans arrive a tad soggy, and the food invariably isn't knock-your-socks-off great, but it's definitely above average and it's not bad at all. The chicken (the rotisserie chicken, not the "broasted" chicken) is flavorful and juicy, and it's even good shredded (the leftovers) for a sandwich or salad the next day. I also like the ribs but I'd prefer if they offered a 1/4 rack as the combo platter is usually too much for me to eat, and ribs don't work the next day -- not as well as they should, anyway. Overall we like ordering from Texas because we know it won't be the most amazing food but it will arrive within 30-40 minutes and it will be hot, tasty and good.

Prices are up and quality is done

We have ordered from Texas for several years. I usually get the rotisserie chicken. Never again. The size of the breast has doubled and the reason is they are now using hormone free chickens. The chicken is tasteless and full of fat. I used to like the yellow rice which is no longer edible. To add to all of this the price has gone up.

the chicken is not rotisserie cooked.

i have ordered here three times now and ordered "rotisserie" chicken. unfortunately, the chicken is not cooked rotisserie style...it is fried and then put on a grill. it arrives greasy, slimy and the outside is all burnt. order from dallas instead.

    Super fast, pretty solid food

I really don't know why some of the other reviewers are saying this place is unreliable because I have ordered from here 5+ times and while it is not the most amazing food, they always get it right and they do it fast. Things I would recommend from the menu are their pulled pork items, the crawfish gumbo (I was pretty shocked when it was legit, with lots of crawfish in it), and the sides. The mac and cheese tasted a little funny to me (a little too processed) but my boyfriend didn't mind it. The buffalo wings here are standard, I wasn't blown away (I like a good crispy skin on my buffalo wings and although they were saucy, they weren't really crunchy or anything). The service is always top notch, really friendly and fast.

    Always wrong the first time...

The problem with this place is that they have the potential to be a great place for carry out. The chicken tastes very good but the first try is always wrong....whether it is a dry piece of chicken or they deliver the wrong items. I have ordered from this place many times and every time they have to come back bc I realize they gave me the wrong items or the chicken was dry. Weirdly enough....they fix their mistakes up and give me a good entree. Each time I order I say I am never eating there again bc of the constant mistakes but I go back bc it is across the street from where I live. If it isn't by you or you don't stumble upon it hungry don't bother...they always make mistakes with the orders.

    Cold, Tasteless, and Dry Chicken!

I went to get a carry out of 1/4 chicken and 2 sides. I walked home across the street and realized my chicken was freezing cold and so tough I couldnt eat it. It is amazing how everytime I go there are 2-3 people just aimlessly standing infront of the registers. I think it would be better served if these people are making sure the food is fresh before giving it to customers. I called and they came within 10 minutes with a fresh piece of chicken although they refused to give me new sides even though I mentioned they would be cold when the new chicken arrived To make matters worse, the delivery guy actually asked me for my original chicken back and put it in a bag to take back to the store. Talk about no class!
