Texas Rotisserie & Grill

I love BBQ, but since I don't live near Southern Hospitality, Hill Country, Blue Smoke or Dinosaur, sometimes I get my fix ordering from Texas BBQ. It's not phenomenal but it's tasty, their food is solid if not amazing, and it's decently-priced if not a bit pricey for what it is. The mac and cheese is a bit runny as is the creamed spinach; the stuffing is a bit dry but not too much so. The string beans arrive a tad soggy, and the food invariably isn't knock-your-socks-off great, but it's definitely above average and it's not bad at all. The chicken (the rotisserie chicken, not the "broasted" chicken) is flavorful and juicy, and it's even good shredded (the leftovers) for a sandwich or salad the next day. I also like the ribs but I'd prefer if they offered a 1/4 rack as the combo platter is usually too much for me to eat, and ribs don't work the next day -- not as well as they should, anyway. Overall we like ordering from Texas because we know it won't be the most amazing food but it will arrive within 30-40 minutes and it will be hot, tasty and good.

i have ordered here three times now and ordered "rotisserie" chicken. unfortunately, the chicken is not cooked rotisserie style...it is fried and then put on a grill. it arrives greasy, slimy and the outside is all burnt. order from dallas instead.

I really don't know why some of the other reviewers are saying this place is unreliable because I have ordered from here 5+ times and while it is not the most amazing food, they always get it right and they do it fast. Things I would recommend from the menu are their pulled pork items, the crawfish gumbo (I was pretty shocked when it was legit, with lots of crawfish in it), and the sides. The mac and cheese tasted a little funny to me (a little too processed) but my boyfriend didn't mind it. The buffalo wings here are standard, I wasn't blown away (I like a good crispy skin on my buffalo wings and although they were saucy, they weren't really crunchy or anything). The service is always top notch, really friendly and fast.

The problem with this place is that they have the potential to be a great place for carry out. The chicken tastes very good but the first try is always wrong....whether it is a dry piece of chicken or they deliver the wrong items. I have ordered from this place many times and every time they have to come back bc I realize they gave me the wrong items or the chicken was dry. Weirdly enough....they fix their mistakes up and give me a good entree. Each time I order I say I am never eating there again bc of the constant mistakes but I go back bc it is across the street from where I live. If it isn't by you or you don't stumble upon it hungry don't bother...they always make mistakes with the orders.

We usually take out from this place. The chicken is pretty good and the sides are all very good. I enjoy the mac and cheese, the baked beans, the grilled veggies, etc. The red meat is meh but that is to be expected for the price. My girlfriend and I are able to get more than enough food for the two of us for less than 20 bucks.

How hard is it to get an order right, just once?! I've ordered delivery and take out here several times over the last few years, each time hoping that they've finally gotten their act together ... But every time, they screw something up leaving out the bacon, forgetting the dessert, putting in the wrong side dishes, etc. Not to mention that the quality of the food is below average. They are closeby and their prices are reasonable, and I am not really too fussy about my food, so I keep being tempted to try them again ... but I don't think I ever will go back. They have ticked me off for the last time!

Avoid the vegetable pot pie. I found this dish offensive. The vegetables were overcooked such that their individuality was erased and all their life was eradicated. The filling was a greasy, mouth coating mush and the sweet potato "crust" was nothing but a sad layer of mash on top. The sweet potato fries were good. I like that the chicken fingers come with celery and carrot sticks. It makes it easier to make a meal out of it. Otherwise, they are not that remarkable, but the value is fine I guess.
