Great food but small restaurant
The sushi here is very good. It's definitely your best bet I'd say for quality sushi on UWS. It's not too pricey, definitely average. You're always going to pay for sushi unless you get a lunch special. I like to think I have a decent taste for sushi, and it's definitely my favorite place when I'm in the neighborhood. Downfalls: Small restaurant. The tables are very very close together downstairs, to the point where I was very willing to wait an extra 20 minutes to sit upstairs and have an okay table without someone sitting over me breathing on my food or listening to my conversation. Wow, that was a run on sentence. I absolutely recommend Tenzan. Not sure how the take out is.

Was good ... slacking
Once I moved to UWS, we tried this place and liked it. It was not too expensive and had decent sushi. However, the last two times we went there, the food was very disapointing. The rolls had too much avocado in it. Other rolls just were not good. I learned that with sushi...it is worth spending more to actually enjoy/LOVE it. So I will not be going back anytime soon.

Excellent sushi and service!
I lived in Japan for four years. So I think I know a thing or two about sushi. The menu items here are wonderful, great variety and fresh, fresh, fresh. Best sushi in UWS for certain! Super staff wait on customers hand over fist. We rarely miss a Saturday night at Tenzan! Enjoy!

Amazing!!
Tenzan is my new favorite sushi restaurant. The fish is incredibly fresh and melts in your mouth. I have been to many sushi restaurants and nothing compares! I can't wait to return.

Nice Work

Best sushi on the uws
This newcomer sushi restaurant has by far the best sushi on the uws. They have over 30 rolls which are all out of this world. I have been there at least two to three times a week and stil can't get enough. The sushi is extremely fresh and the rolls are extrmely creative. They have the best Higiki salad that I have ever eaten with soybeans and a cherry to top it off inside the salad. The best part about the restaurant is their amazing and attentive wait staff. The staff and owner of the restaurant are so friendly and they make you feel so comfortable that you feel like you are in your own apartment eating dinner. I wouldnot go anywhere else to eat sushi on the uws besides this restaurant.

Yum!
Wonderfully fresh and creative rolls at Tenzan. Best sushi on the upperwest side. Even appetizers, such at the gyoza, that we ordered were simply delightful. The mochi balls for dessert are always a wonderful way to seal off a filled with sushi belly.
