We ordered from Tenzan based on all the fabulous reviews written here and could not have been more disappointed. The food was here 12 minutes after we ordered - which was nice - but they forgot our soup and took another 30 minutes to deliver it. We ordered a shumai appetizer. It was decent, but served with no dumpling sauce. We then had salads and miso soup. The salads were fine - nothing special, but nothing wrong - but the soup had a sour flavor bordering on the flavor of urine. In total we ordered three different rolls - an eel cucumber roll that had absolutely no flavor, a dallas roll that was watery, fell apart, did not appear to have any shrimp, and the tuna it contained were small flakes, not a nice piece of fish. This roll also had zero flavor. The third roll was a sweet potato roll and was the best one ordered but was still mediocre at best. We also ordered a teriyaki combination plate. The menu said it came with chicken, shrimp & beef but when we called they said we had to choose only two. The shrimp were good and the beef was acceptable but the sauce was watery and had absolutely no flavor. Even the white rice was bland. How do you screw up white rice? We called to complain but they said they could only do something if we gave them back our food but we had already thrown it away so they refused to do anything for us. Overall a huge waste of money and will never order from Tenzan again.

We've had take out from here and we've also dined in, and both times were excellent. Great food, attentive and pleasant service, and we were pleasantly surprised that the atmosphere inside was better than expected. There is a fun decorative waterfall type thing that you can't see when you walk by. We will definitely be back.

I have ordered sushi rolls from EVERY take out sushi place in the Upper East 60's and I'm sorry but only with the exception of high end 5 Star restaurants, Tenzan sushi rolls are simple the BEST!...Fresh, tasty flavor combinations and...YUMMY! I also LOVE that they are one of the few which deliver until MIDNIGHT! ; ) Sometimes people are hungry late and dinner food is not what they want. Congratulations Tenzan please keep your food, service and price the way they are now!

The food is not expensive and it is always the freshest sushi! I usually get delivery and it is very quick. I really recommend getting sushi from here- you won't regret it!

I made the mistake of ordering the spicy roll, its very liquidity and not very tasty, needs improvement! Nice atmosphere though!

I love this place! Awesome sushi, not too expensive, cool atmosphere, attentive waitstaff. Can't be beat.

I ate here last weekend, and I seriously cannot stop thinking about the amazing sushi. The fish was so fresh, and the ratio of fish to rice was incredible--there was no skimping on the fish! The Maki Combos are fantastic deals--a great place to go with friends or a date--very cool atmosphere--can't wait to go back!
