Delicious!
Had an awesome dinner here with some friends. Everyone ordered from the pre-fixe menu. We had fried calamari with a tasty spicy dipping sauce and duck liver pate for appetizers. Filet of sole and leg of lamb for entrees. Simply delicious! Attentive service from wait staff. Mellow and relaxed atmosphere. At the end of the meal the waiter gave us complimentary biscotti. A great dining experience from start to finish. Will definitely be coming back!

Great Italian
As we walked up 8 Ave. we stopped by Tellos it was the busiest restaurant on the 8 Ave. strip. We went in for a drink and stayed for dinner. The food, atmosphere and service was that of a four star restaurant. We will be back.

Excellent Italian restaurant
Friday night I met a good friend of mine for our "annual Holiday dinner. We always try to find someplace special and I must say the only problem at Tello was that it got too crowded. It is the season when everyone is out so I did understand and there was a party of 10. The waitstaff was excellent, the Maitre'd came over several times to check how everything was. We had to special dinner for $19.95 and we both enjoyed what ordered. We are both looking forward to going back and I may go back soon.

what a disappointment
This was my first time and will be my last. There were two of us and while our entrees had very good portions – both were far too salty - not enough to really send them back but too much to really enjoy them. In addition, the portion of red wine we got for $11 was ridiculously small. In Chelsea, this restaurant should have been far better and other restaurants in the area are much better. Maybe that's why the restaurant was not busy when we were there.

Delicious Italian
Tello was a favorite of mine when I lived in NYC and I make a habit of eating here every time I visit. Portions are big, prices are small. Great place to eat outside and people watch as its in the heart of Chelsea. Food and service is amazing!

Nana's weeping
Beware Tello's Favorite. It's a "Brichole & Gnochi" the likes I would never have dreamed of. No, Brichole is not sausage! My plate looked like something Dinty Moore would make. Cold bread and tasteless soggy Ceasar Salad. Skimpy portion of gnocchi to lap up the salty, watery tomato sauce. My companions meals looked unappetizing and no one made mention on how their meals were so you know they didn't enjoy. Homey atmosphere but my Irish grandmother can make better Italian!

An Unfortunate Taste Experience
Although I have had reasonably well-prepared food at Tello in the past, my meal there last night was thoroughly unpleasant. My bressaola appetizer came to the table dry and mostly flavorless. I dressed it with the oil and vinegar provided, but remained unsatisfying. The short ribs with cavatelli came with a super viscous and impenetrable sauce of unpleasant flavor. The ribs were overwhelmed by the sauce and had no flavor of their own. The drinks were good and the atmosphere pleasant, but certainly not worth the $75 per person that the evening ran. If I ever return to Tello, I will be far more cautious in my ordering, sticking to simpler choices.
