I walked in last night because I live in the area and the snow made it a good valentines choice. I had heard great things but I had also heard of the price so I had been waiting for the right night. Let's just say that we were seated before I relized it was a prefix night and it was steep. However, by the time we were done I did not care - everything was great. It was a real treat and I'll be back.

It was my second time eating at Telepan and it was even better than the first, - knowledgeable staff, (friendly too - no attitude here), soothing, comfortable dining atmosphere. The type of place you can go for a romantic, business or casual dinner with friends and know you'll come away satisfied in every way. The creativly executed food combines interesting flavors and textures, and the result is truly outstanding dishes. A must try for anyone who enjoys fine dining.

After a movie last night in the area, I decided to take a walk over to Telepan. I had read much about this restaurant, but being alone, I was hesitant to enter such a fine dining establishment as a solo diner. Also, it was prime dinner hour, 8:15 p.m. I walked in and was greeted right away and very warmly by the desk staff. They said that I could sit at the lovely bar area which had the same full menu as was available in the restaurant area. Also, they said here were four small tables in the bar area which were unreserved and "first come, first served". There was an empty table there, so I asked if I could have a table instead of sitting at the bar. They said by all means and escorted me there immediately. It was very pleasant with a warm feel yet a wonderful, exciting buzz. The full dining menu was offered to me. The food was outstanding; fresh ingredients, well prepared and beautifully presented. They made me feel right at home. If I had one tiny complaint about this restaurant, I thought perhaps the prices were a bit steep. But on reflection, it was a very inviting place and I had an excellent meal and wonderful experience.

We had an incredible meal here on Friday night. The tuscan bread soup was delicious as were the winter squash pierogi. Everyone was friendly and eager to please. This restaurant has moved to the top of my favorites list. You will not be disappointed.

I went here later on a Friday on a whim, and it was fantastic. The trout appetizer was absolutely amazing, the service was great, and though it's on the pricier side, it's worth every penny. If you are looking for a great dining experience on the Upper West Side, go here. You will not be disappointed.

Excellent food, professional service and nice, soothing ambiance. I agree, however, with the reviewer who did not like the painting (or poster?) of the man in a baseball cap (I thought it looked like the chef who came out to talk to one of the tables!). It doesn't go with the decoration. But we loved everything and will be happy to come back.

What an incredible dinner! I had the four-course tasting menu, which means somewhat smaller portions -- just right for a leisurely meal. The signature smoked trout was the stuff of dreams. One bite and your eyes close in utter delight. Next was the lobster Bolognese. Not the same red sauce you think of with pasta, but a light, tomato-based sauce served with delectable bits of lobster on homemade spaghetti. A very savory, light "mid course." I next had the fish special, a fillet of sea bass, cooked to perfection, with minted zucchini. Dessert was panna cotta in a rhubarb sauce. Just wonderful. The service was fantastic -- our waiter not only knew everything about every item on the menu, but he ably guided us through the wine list, recommending a light red that went perfectly with each of our choices, and was on the low end, pricewise, at $40. My friends had the yellowtail and four-way pork, and the breast of duck. They loved theirs as much as I loved mine. Can't wait to return! I only hope I can get a reservation.
