Fantastic Dining Experience
This was my 2nd dining experience at Telepan and experienced wonderfully prepared food and its presentation. Our waiter was extremely knowledgable, friendly, and helpful with wine selection. Bottom line - an unbelievable dining experience.

Rude!
While the food is good here, the waiters are unbelievably rude. Why anyone working for tips would have such a bad attitude towards people paying $35 for an entree is very puzzling. If the owner paid as much attention to his hiring standards as he does to his food it would be a great place.

Wonderful Evening
We started with the tasting menu and pairings prior to attending the opera. Arrived at 5:30 pm - our reservation was awaiting us and so were the staff. They were fabulous - the food was fresh and the quality was superb. We did not feel rushed and found that one of the wines was one we had tasted when we were in Greece and fell in love with. Wonderful surprise! The staff was attentive without hovering. We were prompty done and ready to go at 7:45 pm. This restauant is a jewel. If you haven't tried it you should. Nothing pretentious or pompous just elegance and the freshest of ingredients.

Not as good as you would expect
Ate at Telepan with two others on a Friday in September. The food varied from acceptable to inedible. The latter refers to the Heritage Pork, which was tough and fatty to the point where, after chewing a piece for several minutes, I had to spit it out. This place has rushed, inattentive service and is expensive. There are so many good places to eat in NY, so avoid this one.

Don't come for the food.
We recently celebrated a birthday here, 17 people for brunch. It was great to have a place that would accommodate that size party, the service was adequate and certainly not rushed. The quality of the food was another matter. We chose three appetizers and three entrees from the regular prixe fixe menu, and brought our own birthday cake. The bread basket was the only part of the meal that everyone enjoyed. Those who ordered the vegetable-bread soup were happy. It was very fresh the flavors were well combined. The blintzes and smoked trout were disappointments. The blintzes were soggy and cold. Some felt that the smoked trout was past it's prime. Of the entree selections, the only good choice was the burger with house pickles and volcano. This would have been outstanding, but the fried onion rings had a funny sour taste. The french toast was cold and soggy, with a schmear of jam in the middle, over ladened with raspberry sauce and cream, and then powdered sugar, ugh. The omelet was tolerable, the hash browns were overcooked, dry and salty. The cake, which was served for a charge per person, was plated nicely, with a scoop of good vanilla ice cream. So, we did not come for the food, and Telepan served our purpose, but I would not recommend it for a regular brunch.

No sensitivity here
If, like me, you require some accommodation to eat in a restaurant then don't come here. I have some food sensitivities/allergies so generally select a dish and request no dressing or sauces to simplify my meal. Evidently the artistry-palate of the chef was more important than my personal request (health) and my meal was drowned in an alternate sauce. Needless to say I found it inedible and outrageous when my server went on to explain that I would need the sauce to enjoy my dish to the fullest. My friend did pay for the meal which was probably thrown out. I ate elsewhere on my way home.

a special brunch
We were recommended Telepan for weekend brunch as we were staying locally and it was an absolute find. Now taking the in laws again this weekend! The price fixed brunch menu caters to all tastes and the hazelnut crepes were to die for. Service was perfect, attentive but unobtrusive.
