Breakfast at Teany
I've been to Teany twice, and I didn't see any models or pretentious people there. The tea is excellent, and I must recommend the oatmeal if you're going there for breakfast. It's the best I've ever had.

Love to hate, but food is great
This place popped up in my neighborhood along with a crop of new trendy hangouts for fashion models and those who aspire to be professionally good-looking - the types who come to the LES to shop and pose around. Teany is very plasticky and contrived in appearance and the staff and clientele are seriously detestable. BUT, I have to admit, the food is really, exceptionally good. Not cheap for what you get, but fresh, well-seasoned and delicious.

teany has great desserts!
For the best strawberry shortcake in New York city, head to the East Village for teany's, which is vegetarian and delicious. I also recommend the Italian sodas, which are varied and delightful.
