Nice but no-clue service
Me and some friends went to Teany the other week, looking forard to a good and healthy meal. We were surpriced to find that the menu has very few low-fat/calorie dishes, at least it appeared to be so. When we asked the waitress which of the dressings and soups that were the lightest she had no clue. Overall the food was pretty good, but we are still wondering if what we ate was low-calorie diet friendly or not...

Huge variety of teas
Teany is a great place if you're interested in experimenting with new kinds of tea. My friend and I went around 5:00 PM and ordered the "tea for two," which comes with two kinds of teas, four kinds of finger sandwiches, and some pastries for dessert. The food (and tea) were very good, and there was a lot more of it than I expected. We both ended up skipping dinner that night. The staff is friendly, and they were flexible in allowing us to make a substitution from the list of teas that we could choose from as part of the "tea for two." The place was very small and chaotic, so you have to be a little aggressive to get the staff's attention, but on the whole the service is very good. This might not be the place for a romantic anniversary dinner, but it's certainly a fun place to bring someone who loves tea or who just likes to experiment.

Mostly awesome
Though small (you have to go at the right time of day or it may be impossible to get a seat) and seemingly overpriced, the food is really good, the tea is even better, the atmosphere is funky and while I've had some really iffy service, the trend is generally towards good service. Plus it's Moby's restaurant. And anything of or relating to Moby is generally just awesome.

I honestly.. have never ever ever experienced Vegan Desserts like the ones at Teany. Even Carnivores can enjoy them. I'm in such Awe I've lost all words to describe it.

Best innovative menu
I had a great time..surprised that Kelly the co-owner works as a waitress, etc. as well! Wish it was bigger..wondering what it is like in the winter. Best vegan desserts, and sandwiches -you can order a variety. Gourmet! Perhaps it depends on when you go. I didn't see any models either- Saturday afternoon.

Totally worth it
I go to Teany every time I'm in New York for several reasons. One, of course, is because I'm a huge Moby fan....what can I say. Other reasons are because of the food, the teas, the atmosphere, and the location. The food is great and if you like tea, you will be almost agitated at the bazillion choices you have. WOW! I feel like I can never make up my mind.....try the Gunpowder..it's really nice. I like the atmosphere because it's a place where you can feel really comfortable. Laid back patrons and relaxed and fun staff. I also like the music they play...something completely different every time. And lastly, I like the location Teany is in because it's really the only thing that would bring me to the Lower East side. It's a great area that most people to not venture to....check out the area....it's hidden coolness.

Breakfast at Teany
I've been to Teany twice, and I didn't see any models or pretentious people there. The tea is excellent, and I must recommend the oatmeal if you're going there for breakfast. It's the best I've ever had.
