I really wanted to like teany!
I went to teany really excited to try everything out. I love tea and the fact that their menu was vegan really excited me! While the tea was good, the place is quite small and always crowded (we were literally elbow to elbow with the table next to us) My friend ordered a salad that was in the 10-12 $ range and it was a real dissapointment, my chai was very water down and the vegan muffin I had was overly dry. Our meal was quite expensive for the quality of food, next time I think I'll look elsewhere for vegan goods and just pick up my tea (to go) and take it home to brew.

No more meat for me! I love teany.
I have always been a devout meat eater until my wife started to educate me on vegetarianism. She brought me to teany, i ordered the non turkey club and loved it! Everything was so refreshing. I had a tea cooler and we ordered a vegan sticky bun for desert and it was better than cinnabuns!(sp?) you know, at the mall. I wish I knew about Teany sooner, Im addicted,like 3 times a week!

Teany has gone Downhill :{
I used to crave Teany's tofu cheesecake- they used to offer it in several varieties. Now they only offer a berry cheesecake and it does not taste as good as it used to (the crust has an odd texture- the kind that gives vegan desserts a bad rep). The strawberry shortcake that people have raved about tastes is super sweet and the cake itself is dry. The tea is still excellent (lychee and almond are my favorites). The servers have always been friendly but often I am ignored for upwards of 25 minutes (I've even seen many people leave out of frustration), getting the check is usually a hassle and more than once people who have come in after me have been taken before I am. Not to mention they took my favorite sandwich off the menu (olives and veggies on ciabatta). I no longer go out of my way to visit but if you are in the area and there is no wait it still is worth it for the tea. I sincerely hope that they hire more staff and improve the menu because Teany used to be one of my favorite spots in the city.

Alcohol at teany
To the reviewer who said that they didn't used to have alcohol: teany used to have alcohol before they chopped their menu, and in fact used to offer a greater selection of it... personally, i really miss their white sangria on top of everything else they lost. :-(

Pretty Good Overall, Great Tea!
A lot of people have said they don't like Tea NY recently. With that in mind, II went this past Friday at about 7pm for the first time. I had no issues with lines, the service, or waiting for anything. Everything arrived exactly as it should have. The tea I had originally picked was out of stock, but I quickly found another to try thanks to the experienced waitress I was helped by. I thought the prices were really reasonable considering the tea was not by the cup, but by the pot. (Easily shared by two, and if it's not finished, they'll put it in a travel cup.) Keep in mind, it's cash only.

Best SCONES of my life!
You must try their scones! Have them toast it for you, and eat it with jam. I crave one almost everyday. The texture is what makes the scone so good for me. It's not at all cake-like. It's more soft and crumbly on the inside with a crunchy outside.
