Taz Cafe

I decided to give TAZ a try after a friend's poor recommendation of the facilities, service, and food.I like to try new places for breakfast and lunch a few times instead of going to the same delis. I really wanted to prove him wrong, but my friend was right. The servers behind the counter always look angry at you for ordering something, whether it's on the board or not. It's not a race or religion thing -- they just don't like customers. Just recently, they raised the price on a sandwich I've purchased for 5 days straight. Blimpie used to do that down here until I boycotted their shops. At TAZ, one of the elder cashiers has a smile like Bela Lugosi, and I thought if I turned my back too quickly, I would be...well, you know. I wanted to make this work. I really did. So I ordered a Philly Cheese Steak for lunch -- that's my litmus test with the delis around here, and they all seem to do a very good job despite being in New York. I'm sorry to say TAZ's heroes, deli sandwiches, and breakfasts have absolutely no flavor. Sorry folks. Either bring back the brick oven pizza place, sell out to the "Cafe" franchise down here (Cafe Pine, yes?), but please do not put a Starbucks there.

The food here is pretty good - they have a good selection for a deli, although it can be a bit greasy. The guys behind the grill are always very friendly and personable. However, the salad station is a MESS - the servers are completely unfriendly, and can be downright rude, and don't listen to what you ask for. You have to repeat your order 15 times, because they don't pay attention at all (they sometimes start to do other things), and then they look irritated. And, the salmon that you get on the salad often has bones in it -- gross! There are so many other (WAY better) places to grab a lunchtime salad around here that I wouldn't go back there for one.

Lightning fast delivery and consistent food keeps me coming back. It's not the best in the city but for the price and speed you can't beat it for this area. Also has a great variety.

After 8 months of loyalty, I was informed this morning that to utilize their breakfast buffet, I was told that I had to take something of everything and not just pick what I wanted....I guess mgmt felt that just eggs and no potatoes did not give them the profit margin they where hoping for. I was told that if I wanted eggs without potatoes I would have to order them a la carte...have you ever heard anything so absurd?

I order breakfast from Taz all the time. Recently moved to pizza's and I must say it is not bad at all. I feel I will always satisfy my palate at Taz. Keep up the good work guys. Work on the service and it will all be good. Ladies there is no harm in giving your clients a smile every now and then.

Great variety of sandwiches, wraps, pizza, hot and cold salad bar. It's also well priced.
