    Fabulous grilled fish

Had dinner here for the first time last night. The BEST perfectly grilled fish - absolutely wonderful!! My husband had the pork chops. Again, perfectly cooked (very moist), and an enormous portion of 2 huge chops. Will definitely go back.

    Pretty poor

The food didn't taste fresh, was over salted, very ordinary at best. The staff are literally running through the restaurant with plates of food and the decor is well, there is no decor actually. We will definitely not go back. There are wonderful Greek restaurants in the east village for the same price.

    Fabulous!

What a wonderful addition to the neighborhood!! We'd been wanting to go here for quite some time, but life got in the way. We finally made it there last week on a weeknight and I have to say, it was well worth the wait. What used to be the Lyric Diner has now become Taverna. It is absolutely a breath of fresh air in a neighborhood rife with sportsbars and meh food. I had the special meatball soup which was ridiculously good. It was creamy (without any cream), and the combination of lemon and veal stock has left me craving it for the last week. Absolutely delicious! My wife raved about the tarama (just like Mykonos!). Then, we moved onto the entrees. I had the Chicken Souvlaki which was actually a Chicken Shish Kebab. You'd think it would be boring, but it was the best one I'd ever had! Marinated and moist, grilled to perfection and quite delicious! She had the whole Bronzini and said it was the most superbly cooked fish she's had in years, so moist and tender, with a perfectly crisped skin. They had no problem changing out our side veggies for different ones - which has always been a problem for us at other restaurants. When you're mostly low carbing it, a side of potatoes or rice simply won't do. So this was an added plus. We had a couple of glasses of Retsina and our meal was complete. The service was really good, too, helpful and friendly. Our new favorite neighborhood place.

    A positive surprise

The Lyric diner was at this location for years. The owners decided to transform it in a real Greek restaurant. All Lyric aficionados were upset, but the Taverna that opened in the renovated location is above all expectation. Good Greek food at affordable prices. Enjoyed it immensely in the 3-4 visits. It's only impoving
