Love this place
I've been going here for years and I really love this place. The burgers are great. The atmosphere is also very cozy and cool. The menu isn't that extensive but there are always interesting specials. Definitely go there.

All this for $14?!?
Totally by chance we wandered into this place - DO NOT assume it'll be yucky because of the dim lighting. Sit down, relax, have that cocktail... the food here is WORTH IT. The service is great, the cocktails are good, and the food is A-MA-ZING. Seriously. And all this for $14!!

No oysters in Oyster Po Boy
I love this bar, but when I ordered the Oyster PoBoy sandwich it was all lettuce and tomato. Great place for a cold beer, but if you want food in your order, go elsewhere.

very very good
a really nice place to eat when you're looking for a very good meal, a casual atmosphere, and good service. i've been here a few times and am always pleased. it's got a comfortable feel to it.

Warm & homey, love Tav on Jane!
I used to live in the West Village and really, really loved this friendly, relaxed corner tavern. The bartenders are always so friendly and the owner is usually sitting at the bar (he's a huge Red Sox fan). It's nice and dark in there, warm, and I just loved eating at the bar and reading the papers on Sunday mornings there. Their bloody mary's were to die for. GET THE STEAK SANDWICH with fries - you will NOT be disappointed! Mmmmmm!

Totally over-rated
It's basically the same stuff you can get at any standard new york diner, but marked up 30%. i guess the 30% is for the tavern-style decor...don't get me wrong, i'm not putting down diners - new york diners have solid food...but TOJ definitely does not offer anything better than diner food...the location is great for west village neighborhood folks though...i've gone with acquaintances who live in the area, and i live in the area as well...they seem to like it, more for loading up before drinking then for any culinary experience...let's put it this way, i'd rather spend just a little more and go to the union square cafe...the crowd is a bit suspect as well - too many current and former squinty-eyed hipsters and their tagalongs...

neighborhood gem
love this place! it's great for weekend brunch. the various specials are always amazing, the staff is friendly, and the dark wood interior & pub like ambiance is charming. it's an especially welcome break from the majority of sceney restaurants in the neighborhood, which means you don't feel like a schmuck if you show up on sunday morning in your sweats.
