I think the food at Tataki is average at best. That said, it fulfills its role as a reasonably priced neighborhood Japanese restaurant.

I discovered Tataki by chance one day while getting off the E train at Canal Street. And let me say, respectively, best chance encounter. I have been visiting ever since and the food is always up to par. I usually get rolls, sushi/sashimi, or udon/ramen/soba and they are always a pleasure on my tongue. Definitely a place I'd go with friends or just a lonely day outing. Haven't had their drinks yet other than diet coke but I will be sure to try it next time I visit. As for their prices, I wouldn't call them the most expensive but expect to spend $25+ for one person. My bill tends to linger in the 30's with each visit.

I've been ordering from tataki for over four years of working in the neighborhood. the quality is consistently good and, while i've never been to japan nor am i an expert on japanese cuisine, i find the rolls very tasty and creative. (i usually only order sushi and various rolls, no real comment on the other options) delivery is great and always pretty speedy. if you're ordering for more than one person and you tell them ahead of time they will divide the orders into separate bags (super convenient when you're ordering for a bunch of hungry coworkers). I order delivery A LOT from various local places, and i consistently go back and order from here. and the sunny roll is awesome. :)

This has to be the worst example of Japanese food I've ever had . The tako yaki arrived not cooked all the way through. The sushi was a very amateur to say the least and the service was anything but inviting. As a frequent traveler to Japan this restaurant evoked no memories of my experience there. Change is greatly needed in kitchen and training for the waitstaff. Would never go back to this place and if you're looking Japanese food at this restaurant look elsewhere as there is much better in NYC.

you get what u pay for, sushi has never been anything but quality and fresh. They have some great dishes and rolls that you see at top spots like Nobu. Never ate on location. Delivery can take a few minutes more than the average speedy Jap. delivery but If u have the cash and the time i would not eat any place else! this is the one to order from.

I mean that in the best way possible....this food IS like crack!!!! one thing i would highly recommend trying is the tempura sweet potato roll with a side of the creamy dressing used for the green salad( dip the roll into it.) you'll thank me!!! also i am big fan of hand rolls generally and this place unlike some others in the city serves a real generous portion in each hand roll. YUM!

Have ordered out a number of times and eaten in the restaurant twice. The sushi has always been good, liked the udon soup, some of the special rolls are pretty good as well. The price is completely reasonable, and delivery is really fast and nice. A couple things I'd change. 1) The apps are pretty average. The shumai and gyoza both taste like they are from the frozen food aisle. 2) The special rolls are way too heavy on "spicy" fish, ie spicy tuna, spicy salmon, etc. I would love most of their special rolls if they would substitute regular fish as opposed to the spicy version. Otherwise this place is all good, and there's nothing that comes even close in the neighborhood for the price.
