part 2
went back and had the torta de pollo. it was straight up not good. weirdly marinated chicken thighs... but hey, apparently the cheese burrito with no lettuce and no rice (wtf is that?) is good.... eesh.

Good food but poor delivery service
Love their food, but pretty disappointing when it comes to their delivery service. Not only they take their time, but when I call to check the status of my order, they are pretty rude about it. Because of the smallness of their restaurant, I usually order in, but because of their simple rudeness, I stopped ordering from Taqueria and started ordering from elsewhere. Still, all in all, Taqueria serves pretty decent food but with pretty crummy services.

Best Mexican on UWS, maybe NYC
Definitely one of the best mexican restaurants in NYC. Don't be afraid to try something new, as this menu and the specials won't disappoint.

Just like Mexican food in California
I normally dont give high ratings but this restaurant beats all mexican restaurants in NYC. The quantity is huge! And taste is just like mexican food in California. We deliver it at home all the time.

a few warnings and tips
dc. I must say your theory about "columbia students who don't know crap" and the restaurant preparing food in an overly Americanized manner is completely wrong. The server simply gave you an option that is popular with many people (which costs more if you didn't notice). That said, I wouldn't ever pay extra for the "cheese" they put on the tacos, because it's a teenie bit of parmesan or fresh cheese. Which leads me to Tip #1: the cheese is fresh cheese or parmesan. If you want "real" cheese, this is not the place. In the burritos it is pretty long strips of cheese.. makes it a little hard to eat. (Noche does monterrey jack tho) Tip #2: the tacos are huge. order a side of tortillas and easily make one taco into three. Tip #3: Unless you want a salad exploding out of your burrito, get no lettuce. They don't chop the lettuce in small enough peices... and there's lots of it. Tip #4: Pretty much any of the entrees that involve chicken, also involve bones.. don't assume anything is a chicken breast. Tip #5: the salsa order that comes with the chips and salsa comes in teenie little 1-2 oz cups. this is insanely stupid. Tip #6: if they screw up your order on delivery, they will fix it ASAP.. it's just a matter of you feeling it's worth it to call them back. They have sent me chicken burritos at least 10 times when I've ordered cheese.. I'm not a fan of the chicken, at all. Tip #7: Not a fan of the chicken they use.. perhaps I just order too late at night? But it seems kinda unfresh and a little too much fat on it. Tip #8: Unless something has changed recently, no no no on the nachos. (Go to Noche for the best nachos in the area.) Tip #9: The quesos fundidos are kinda odd.. but good.. big corn tortilla on the bottom, blob of melted/grilled fresh cheese on top, and avocado, (meat of your choice), grilled onions, tomatoes on top of that. Tip #10: the chips can be extra greasy at times.. So what do I usually get? A cheese burrito, no lettuce no rice.. sometimes the quesos fundidos with bacon, sometimes a plain quesadilla with no lettuce, bisteca tacos w/ a side of tortillas, quevos rancheros for bfast sometimes.

Really Disappointed
So, I was really craving Mexican food and decided to check for some good spots in the area on menupages. I came across this place and decided to give it a try given some of the highly positive reviews. To say that it didn't satisfy my craving is an understatement. I don't know. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing (I ordered the enchiladas verdes con pollo and my friend and I ordered guacamole), but I was really underwhelmed. The enchiladas had no cheese whatsoever (even though it indicated they would in the menu and they usually do anyway), and the guacamole was just a tasteless glop of green in a bowl (even adding salt didn't help at all). I was really upset. And then on top of that, I thought it would be cheaper for both of us (it came out to $20 each, for the enchiladas I got, the guacamole, a Snapple, a can of soda, and the enchiladas de mole con pollo that my friend ordered), but it definitely wasn't. I was quite annoyed and don't think I'll be giving it another try. For regulars that know what to order by now, I guess it's fine and good but for someone who's never been before and isn't sure what to to try first, I'd recommend going elsewhere.

Take out sloppy
We ordered takeout and while the food was pretty good, the service and delivery was sloppy. Some items were left out of the order, and the cheese we paid extra for was missing from the tacos. And the delivery was slow. We might try them again, but I'm not completely sure we will
