    Worst food and service

The restaurant has wonderful decoration and trendy atmosphere. The food is horrible worse then a local Chinese restaurant.service is just as bad waiter doesn't come andask even if you want water or another drink .the seating arrangements are uncomfortable.

Not good for big group reservations

Have eaten here many times, but very frustrating: was going to bring a group of 18 people here, but they would not let us reserve two round tables. Despite plenty of space that night. They need better management. What recession?...

    great restaurant week menu

I went here for restaurant week lunch, and they had an above average number of options to choose from on the menu! The duck spring rolls were great, the chicken pad thai was some of the best I've ever had. My friend ordered the sushi (spicy tuna, california roll, avocado roll) they were mediocre which was disappointing. The rice was too sticky and it seemed like the rolls had been made far in advance. Dessert was pretty good as well (zen parfait and banana bread pudding). Overall you cannot beat the price of $24.07 for a three course meal with such generous portions. Make a reservation no matter what, Tao was packed at 2pm.

    Birthday Nightmare

I always wanted to go to Tao because I had heard such great things about the restaurant. I went on my birthday and had the worst time! My boyfriend made a reservation a week in advanced & was told to call the day of to confirm. He called the day of and was told there was no reservation in his name... the hostess said it wasn't a problem and added us to the list for 11:30 PM. We arrived at 11:15, then handed a pager and told our table would be ready shortly and to wait at the bar till it goes off... we were squished in the crowded bar and bought outrageously priced drinks for over 45 minutes. There were atleast 4 people that came in a half our into our wait and they were seated immediatley...they were NOT celebrities! When we finally got a table I looked around and saw 5 tables empty! Our food was good but not as stunning as I had heard. Our waiter was a rude, snobby, paid no attention to us, and looked miserable. He didnt even say happy birthday when he handed us the rediculious bill. The music was overly loud and headache generating... techno is not what I want to hear while Im eating. The bathrooms were dirty...even with a bathroom attendant who was on the phone everytime I went to the ladies room. When I asked the hostess about having to wait almost an hour for our table she no answers. We spent for 2 people a little over $100 on 4 drinks while for waiting for our RESERVED table.... and our dinner bill at the table was about $125 for 1 appitizer, 2 entrees and 2 drinks...and then we had to tip. Spare yourself the expense, the long wait & weird atmosphere, lousy service & relentless heartburn.... it's just not worth it if your trying to enjoy yourself.

    Totally for Atmosphere

I've been here 2 times, (tomorrow will be my 3rd but not by choice!) And the atmosphere is great and always packed, but the food is definitely not worth the money..both times I've gone average price pp for a drink or 2, app n entree is $80/pp. I wouldn't mind if the food was great, but its not.

    Great food!

The last couple of times we have eaten here the food & service was always prompt. We had reservations and were seated immediately by the hostess. We tried many different dishes - I think 9 dishes that we shared among us (there were 3 of us) and every dish was very tasty. Another time, we came here for lunch and had their pre-fixed menu (good deal) and the food was wonderful.

    Good Drinks Bad Food

I was taken here on my birthday for dinner. We started off with lychee martini's which i can say are the best i ever had. On the other hand the food was a totally different story. The small plates are first of all not big enougt to share and second way to salty so stay away if you have high blood pressure and it seems like they were cooked in the microwave. On To dinner...its either a hit or miss with this one. The sea bass was great, whereas the coconut shrimp you can get out the frozen food isle and put it on a bed of salad for all of 10 bucks instead of the 22+ that they charge. So all in all, dont see what all the hype is about you can get better chinese food as you local resturant.
