Tanoreen Restaurant

I am writing this review just as I leave the restaurant. Although the food was good, I felt that the service was spotty. We waited 45 minutes for our main course. The waiter told us the kitchen was backed up, yet people who arrived after us were eating their main courses. Also we were with young children, so waiting around with them was not optimal. Beside several apologizes we were not even given some dessert or a complimentary drink. This is my second time here. The first time the waiter argued with me saying that I did not order because I was not served dinner when the rest of my party was. We were with a large group. Instead of being apologetic he stood his ground only to realize it was his error. This will be the last time I come to this restaurant. I can only imagine other guest experiences.

Recently had my birthday dinner here with a large group of family and friends. Ordered in advance and it went very well. All the food was delicious - including the more unusual dishes like the frekeh - and the service was efficient and smooth. As such a potentially unwieldy event was a great success with all planning to come back for more great Middle Eastern food. They also have a Lebanese red wine that is incredibly good, really rich a fruity and you don't get to drink Lebanese wine too often.

Seriously, best food and service in all of brooklyn. Amazing flavors. Take recommendations from the waiters, they know what is best and you won't be disappointed.

There is Tanoreen...and then there are all the other middle eastern restaurants. This is a restaurant in a category by itself. The only place that tastes as authentic as home whether home is Beirut where I come from or Palestine where the owner grabs her recipes and spices from. Anytime I go there it's a feast for me and I make sure to stack up for the rest of the week eggplant, cauliflower, dandelion salads or my favorite yogurt sauce based dishes or the stuffed cabbage. THE BEST!

Tried this place twice found the food over powered by lemon and garlic couldn't taste any other flavors! wont be going back!

Don't know why this place gets such rave reviews -- been there three times, one of which was before all the hype. My first impression that first time was of the inventive menu, but mediocre execution. So, when my Manhattan friends started making trips to BR just to eat at Tanoreen, I decided to give it another chance. Made two trips, just to make sure I didn't get them on an off day on my first return meal. I still don't know what the brouhaha is all about. Eggplant Napoleon was very oily -- again, interesting idea, lackluster preparation. Hummus was ok, falafel -- ok (but I had better from a street cart in Midtown), sujok -- not at all flavorful (bitter disappointment, since it's one of my favorite dishes), shish - ok, but nothing special. Second time around ordered okra, which was swimming in oil, labaneh - good, babaganoush - average/good, and harissa for dessert. I prefer my harissa with a little less liquid, but that's probably a personal preference. All in all, the second visit was better than the first, but not worth the terrible noise level (even at the new location, where one should avoid the sofas, unless you want to be sitting in the lap of the couple next to you), somewhat rushed service, and Midtown Manhattan prices. There are definitely Lebanese places with at least the same-quality cooking, even in BR. As a matter of fact, the Lebanese family restaurant a couple of blocks up the street is, to me, better on all counts. To each his own, I suppose.

Bay ridge has so many good restaurants I dont know why you would go here, the hummus was ok but thats about it. there was literally so much parsley on my plate i thought the chef played a joke on me
