Mediocre Food
As a native New Yorker of 50 years who has eaten in easily more than 100 Chinese restaurants, I judge this one as mediocre in food quality. Most noteworthy is that the staff is rude. Why go to this place when we have endless choices in NYU?

Ignorant
What kinda Chinese restaurant has egg rolls? The fake ones, the crappy ones, etc. Who gets general tso's chicken at a real Chinese restaurant? Why would anyone get that at tang? They serve excellent and authentic shanghainese and soochow cuisine. The restaurant has a different menu for the real food.

New York Institution
This place is absolutely amazing. The ambience is Chinese Elegant. The staff is at your beck and call. The food is delicious and they have the best tea in town. I love this restaurant and would go everyday if I could. The staff is so nice and gracious. I love the decor. It is like a restaurant from the Old New York. It is the best Chinese in Midtown.

Nothing special at all!
Had dinner here a day ago. Food was nothing special. I had much better Chinese food at street fairs than I did here. Decor was very traditional. Not my style, but I guess it fits the older people?

Good experience
had dinner here Friday night after Moma. I had the jumbo shrimp salt and pepper and my bf had the lion head(giant meat ball shanghai style). Both were tasty. The service was good and sitting is comfortable. This is definitely a better Chinese restaurant than most in the city.

Repeat Customers
We have eaten at Tang for years. The food has always been outstanding, the service well above average and the ambiance welcoming. The ceramic reproductions used as decorations are well chosen. If I have a niggle, it is with the salt levels which are unpredictable. We have arrived at all hours with guests in tow, and have always been welcomed. Good martinis.
