Japanese food made by Chinese people.
I've only gotten take out from here. I knew I was in trouble when I realized the people working there (including the sushi chefs) spoke chinese and not japanese. I had to explain what a negitoro roll was (toro+green onions). When I asked what was fresh, they responded that everything was fresh because they get their fish every week. Every week??? Sushi You which is 4 doors over is run by Japanese people, the sushi chef goes to the fish market daily and picks the fish, and will kindly tell you what is fresh and what he recommends. Ditch this place and go to Sushi You. And no I don't work for Sushi You, I'm just a die hard regular for good reason.

Excellent
Tanaka ruined it for me! I cannot eat sushi anywhere else. The food is incredible and the service is great...it can be a little pricey. I wish they would expand their location. I love it!

Chewy Seaweed...
ordered a spicy tuna and spicy yellowtail roll with crunch to go... got home, poured a glass of wine and sat down to eat... Didn't know what was sooo chewy... without sharing the details... it was the seaweed that wraps around the roll. I ate a couple of the pieces so I couldn't bring it back... I pulled it apart and ate the fish and rice... I've never had chewy seaweed before... will not be going back!

The sushi is the best!!!! I could eat here everyday. The squid melts in your mouth. Me and my friend Jay frequent Tanaka as much as possible. Mazol Tav.

Tasty
Stopped by today for take-out - had a lunch special $8.25 - two spicy/crunchy tuna rolls - they were both spicy & crunchy - often times so many places don't make them spicy hot - this was just right) , garden salad and miso soup - all fresh & tasty - I'll go back!

A sushi gem
I am a vegetarian , so i can only speak on behalf of the veggie options. the avocado roll and the peanut roll are so yummy! they are packed tightly and this place actually got me hooked on sushi. the service is polite, quick and helpful. everytime i walk in or out, they always greet me. its not pricey at all. and the atmosphere is laid back. it really is a place i highly highly recommend.

Great little sushi place!!
I love this place. I live in the area and go here (or order in) literally 4 to 5 times a week for lunch or dinner. Tanaka is a nice practical little restaurant where you can get some great sushi at a really good price. It's not necessarily a place where you take a hot date but its great for what it is. I think anyone who writes a bad review here must have been expecting something really fancy. I like it because the food is good, the people are friendly, it's convenient and a good value. The lunch special really is the best deal in the area.
