The best service and food in town
I had the pleasure of eating here recently. The food was wonderful and our waitress was the best ever! I highly recommend going. Great value for your money and enough so that two can share... Going back again for sure!

very average
Being Asian, and having traveled extensively throughout Asia, including Japan, I'd like to think I know decent Japanese food when I taste it. This place is very average. Nothing stands out. Udon is bland. The soup tasted like water. Sushi is ok. To the comment about not having had peanut butter or banana rolls...that's because those are not authentic rolls at all.

Quaint and Dainty Hovel
Tanaka Sushi has stolen my heart. Although I have only had their sushi, I can say that it is some of the freshest and best prepared I've had in New York. The tuna melted in my mouth, and the eel was delicious. What really topped it off though, is that I went right as they were closing and they let me order anyways. Overall, a pleasant establishment with excellent food.

Excellent hole in the wall
We eat here at least once sometimes three times a week. Never fails to be a delicious meal. Their service is great and the sushi is the freshest. Highly recommend.

Japanese food made by Chinese people.
I've only gotten take out from here. I knew I was in trouble when I realized the people working there (including the sushi chefs) spoke chinese and not japanese. I had to explain what a negitoro roll was (toro+green onions). When I asked what was fresh, they responded that everything was fresh because they get their fish every week. Every week??? Sushi You which is 4 doors over is run by Japanese people, the sushi chef goes to the fish market daily and picks the fish, and will kindly tell you what is fresh and what he recommends. Ditch this place and go to Sushi You. And no I don't work for Sushi You, I'm just a die hard regular for good reason.

Excellent
Tanaka ruined it for me! I cannot eat sushi anywhere else. The food is incredible and the service is great...it can be a little pricey. I wish they would expand their location. I love it!
