Ever since I discovered Tamarind last year, I refuse to go anywhere else for Indian food. It has quickly become the girls night out, and ultimate date spot. Not only is the food good, and well portioned (not too much so you leave stuffed and comatose), but the service is undeniably attentive without the snobby, stuffy attitude. The prices aren't bad, when you go with a bunch of people and split the bill it ranges between $30 and $40. Nice trendy ambience.

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday. The meal was delicious, as was the wine. I especially recommend the Amritsari Seekh appetizer (paneer cubes with onions and peppers) and the Murg Lajawab (chicken), which were great. The bhindi do piaza (okra) was good, but nothing special. The mango cheesecake was also fantastic. Overall, we had a really good experience and we would recommend Tamarind. I'm Indian, so we often go to Indian restaurants, and this was definitely in the top tier.

This is as good as it gets, in my opinion. We have come here for years and had one great meal after another, and the people couldn't be nicer. We love their Samosa, chicken tikka masala, everything... Eat there or have it delivered, it is just the best. We are moving in a few months and the saddest thing I can think of is not being able to get Tamarind delivered!

I work for one of the largest financial firms and we had a corporate event this past week, for 8 people. The food was over the top as well as the service. The food was presented in a unique, more like French style. Our servers suggested to either share a family meal or order individual entrees a la carte, and we decided to go with the family meal. The servers selected appetizers for us: lamb and chicken kebab, cauliflower and shrimp. Everything was plated individually for everyone. For main course we had the sea bass, lamb chop, chicken, cheese & spinach, chick peas, some lentil, rice and the assorted bread basket. All was fantastic! Our servers were great. High class & very romantic atmosphere, highly recommended!

Lower the amount of salt you put in the food! The appetizers were great in my opinion, but the entrees were too salty to enjoy.

After an absolutely scrumptous perfect dinner the previous evening at The Blue Water Grill it was recommended we visit the Tamarind. We both tried the she crab soup as an entrée...white colored water with no flavor whatsoever. The main entrée was passable but salty and the cost did not justify the food or atmosphere. not to mention a thoroughly uncourteous server. I would not recommend this restaurant.

What Babbo is to Italian food, Tamarind is to Indian food. Its the best Indian food in NYC by a mile. And it has a great slightly upscale atmosphere which is very comfortable. This restaurant is a real treasure.
