Talia's Steakhouse & Bar

At the prices they charge, one might expect very good to excellent food and a desire to please and perfect. After eating there 4 or 5 times over the last year or so, we have found that the food is just okay mostly and the restaurant seems pretty indifferent to whether you're happy or not with the meal. I guess the Kosher monopoly lets them behave and create mediocrity but still enjoy the success of an excellent restaurant that in the non-kosher secter a restauarant could not get away with it.

Had a dinner last night with my boyfriend. The butcher cut was very tendered and cooked perfectly. The service was professional and very friendly. The ambience is warm and cozy. Candles on each table in a dimly lit space. The prices are very reasonable. Talia's has a winter special dinner deal. Three course prix-fixe menu (which includes steak) served with a free glass of house wine - $35. My boyfriend really enjoyed this prix fixe menu. We left talias with 100% satisfaction.

The appetizers were disappointing, I think the beef soup had a single piece of meat in the bowl (as in one). The steak was OK, I found mine to be undercooked, I sent it back and I think they put the entire plate in the microwave or something because my fries came back pulverized. The place is just not that good although the management seems to think its "high end," as apparent by the menu prices.

My friend and I dined at Talia's last Tuesday night and the steak was incredible! The rib-eye steak served with frites was so delicious, while my friend had the sushi which was incredibly fresh. After our meal, we shared the chocolate souffle-- an amazing dessert served with ice cream.

Went to talias midweek. The room was fairly empty, and so it was quiet and nice enough for a conversation. The problem was that despite the few customers, service was not good. Waiter was rude and rushed us (even though there were plenty of empty tables). The steak was mediocre, and overcooked (we asked for it medium rare, and it came medium well). I guess that because there are few kosher competitors on the UWS they are still around.

If you think small portions and nice ambiance is a good setting for a romantic date (like I do) then Talia's is a good place for such an occassion. I had the lamb which was absolutely fabulous and my picky eating date had the fish which she could not even deny! The service was outstanding and though there were not many other people there, I did not mind. If on the other hand you are going out with the guys or you want to reward yourself with a feast after a long days work you will leave this place disappointed and hungry! Talia's is great date atmosphere only.

We really enjoyed our meal in Talia's Steakhouse. The service was superb - everything we asked for was provided - and more! The staff was courteous and friendly, and eager-to-please, without being pushy at all. The food was great, and the portions were large! This restaurant serves up a great steak and a fabulous chocolate mousse. We were not rushed in anyway during our meal. We plan on returning to this restaurant and recommend that you try it too!
