    What happened?

My 5/16/07 visit to Talia's was a major disappointment and an embarressment in front of my guests. My last visit was about two years ago and the experience was great: food, service, wine all excellent. Has there been a change in ownership or management? After ordering a bottle of wine, the waiter brought glasses to the table that were wet inside and out. The inside of the glass had water collected on the bottom and large droplets of water around the bowl. When I asked for a dry glass, the waiter said that he had washed them because they did not look clean but could not dry them without leaving towel residue on the glass! The steaks and chops were alright, but I have certainly had better. The mashed potatos were more like pureed potatos. They were so loose that a spoon was a better implement than a fork. A desert order for apple tart was taken and then rejected because "the kitchen did not prepare any crust". Finally, my alleged decaffinated espresso tasted suspiciously like Sanka with a head of foam. It was undrinkable. I do not think I will be going for a third try.

    mother's day at Talia's

I have been to Talia's steakhouse a few times. The food is really great and the prices very reasonable. I would especially like to thank Talia's for their service on Mother's day. Even though it was very busy, the waiters were very helpful and upbeat and the food amazing as always. The price they charged for our group of ten can be rivaled by few other restaurants in the city. I have to say that what they offer in terms of price, food and service has one of the best overall values.

    Not recommended

I have been there three times. Two out of the three involved overcooked, grisly cuts of meat. (the first time was a pretty good meal). The service was actually poor. Although the place only had one other table filled, it took 30 minutes to be invited to order, and after flagging down the waiter to ask for water, an hour later I literally had to get out of my chair, to ask for a refill. He basically took his time, dropped off our food, and didn't return for the duration of the meal. Getting the check was another fiasco. I have yet to speak with anyone who has had decent service (so I marvel at the posts from people who say they did). I want very badly for there to be a classy kosher restaurant in my neighborhood, but unfortunately I'm still waiting.

    Everything was just right

last week me my boyfriend and I had a romantic dinnr ar at Talias to celebrate our 5 years anniversary. In the past five years I have'nt had such a good steak like the one in Talia's. It was just phenomenal. It was made just right (medium) and tasted just perfect. Beside that the service was outstanding. A nice young girl served us in the most professional and kind way. I have no doubt I will be back. Highly recommended.

    Great Food Neighborhood Location

We ate at Talia's Steakhouse last night to celebrate my son's 12th birthday. The atmosphere was elegant and our meals were delicious. The children loved their chicken schnitzel with home made french fries and salad while my husband and I dined on Ribeye for two which was cooked perfectly at medium and was sliced tableside. Our meal ended with hot chocolate souffle's with vanilla parve ice cream which was amazing. A great time was had by all and we will definitely go back.

    Low quality food Israeli attitude

The decor at Talia's is nice, but the food is not great and the hostess's attitude is even worse. They tend to overcook their steaks and burgers and the meat just doesn't taste good. I had a steak there a few months ago and it tasted like it was freezer burned. Another time, I had a burger and it was terribly overdone (I had ordered it medium). Last night, I ordered their most expensive steak, thinking that perhaps their highest quality steak would be decent, (again I ordered it medium and was pretty descriptive as to what that means), it arrived well done and didn't taste fresh (reminded me of leftover reheated brisket). The hostess was rude and unapologetic about the steak. I've had much better steaks with better service for less money at other kosher steak houses in the city (try the le surprise at le marais or the reserve cut at prime grill). My server was sweet and apologetic To top it off, on my way out I saw the hostess sitting and picking her teeth with a toothpick for a few minutes -- in full view of the diners! Talia's location is really convenient for me, which is why I've given it so many tries. Now I'm through. If you have to go there, I suggest that you order your steak on the rare side.

Amazing Getaway From The Average Place

I scheduled a dinner for 45 of my friends and WOW...The food was delicious. The price made a small dent in my check book, but it was well worth it. WHY? BECAUSE the place not only provides wonderful service and delicious food, but an amazing atmosphere. The lights are dimmed, candles are lit, music is playing and occasionally they'll have an in house band. It's a great place to go to relax, get away and have a great time. Not to mention the fact that they have an amazing selection at their bar. Overall, if you're willing to pay a little more than the average price you'll find that it was well worth it...B'tei Avon!
