Sensational!
I had an 80th birthday party for my mother and was pleasantly surprised by the great food, service, and atmosphere!

We had a Shabbat dinner at Talia's. The hospitality was outstanding; the owner really cared about our guests having fun. There was a prix-fix menu which included salad with sliced salmon, brisket or curry chicken for entree and tiramisu or chocolade dome for dessert. All the portions were big and delicious (even the desserts, given they were parve, were not bad). We got excellent value for our money and will definitely be back again.

downer
tried this place a few times and hoped for the best, but was disappointed each time. the food was okay, not great- the service was horrendous! we ordered a few bottles of wine and they had no wine glasses (though the restaurant was not full). they had run out of bread. we ordered sushi and they left the avacado out of each roll. when we complained, they told us they ran out of avacado and forgot to tell us, but did not want to take it off our bill (they eventually agreed). the steaks were overdone, despite asking for blood rare... thank goodness for good laughs and good company. but, sorry to say, cannot recommend this place.

great food, great service!
yesterday, my friend and i enjoyed a great dinner at my favorite upper west side location - Talia's Steakhouse. i had the tastiest filet mignon prepared medium rare, while my friend, who is a fish lover, ordered a st. peter's tilapia, and was particularly satisfied with the quality of the food. service was prompt, and even though i'm kind of picky, my waiter was always smiling and ready to assist us. i highly recommend Talia's Steakhouse! if you haven't been there, you should definitely give it a try!

What happened?
My 5/16/07 visit to Talia's was a major disappointment and an embarressment in front of my guests. My last visit was about two years ago and the experience was great: food, service, wine all excellent. Has there been a change in ownership or management? After ordering a bottle of wine, the waiter brought glasses to the table that were wet inside and out. The inside of the glass had water collected on the bottom and large droplets of water around the bowl. When I asked for a dry glass, the waiter said that he had washed them because they did not look clean but could not dry them without leaving towel residue on the glass! The steaks and chops were alright, but I have certainly had better. The mashed potatos were more like pureed potatos. They were so loose that a spoon was a better implement than a fork. A desert order for apple tart was taken and then rejected because "the kitchen did not prepare any crust". Finally, my alleged decaffinated espresso tasted suspiciously like Sanka with a head of foam. It was undrinkable. I do not think I will be going for a third try.

mother's day at Talia's
I have been to Talia's steakhouse a few times. The food is really great and the prices very reasonable. I would especially like to thank Talia's for their service on Mother's day. Even though it was very busy, the waiters were very helpful and upbeat and the food amazing as always. The price they charged for our group of ten can be rivaled by few other restaurants in the city. I have to say that what they offer in terms of price, food and service has one of the best overall values.

I have been there three times. Two out of the three involved overcooked, grisly cuts of meat. (the first time was a pretty good meal). The service was actually poor. Although the place only had one other table filled, it took 30 minutes to be invited to order, and after flagging down the waiter to ask for water, an hour later I literally had to get out of my chair, to ask for a refill. He basically took his time, dropped off our food, and didn't return for the duration of the meal. Getting the check was another fiasco. I have yet to speak with anyone who has had decent service (so I marvel at the posts from people who say they did). I want very badly for there to be a classy kosher restaurant in my neighborhood, but unfortunately I'm still waiting.
