    No

I don't understand all the positive reviews of this place. The only dishes that were even close to passable were the chicken and shrimp dumplings and the ribs. The chicken and duck were both very rubbery and definitely not fresh. The pad see ew noodles were mangled and the shrimp was extremely dry. To top it all off, none of the vegetables that went along with the dishes were fresh- they were instead soggy and bland. The only good thing I can say about this place is that the decor makes it look cute and the prices are low. If you're looking for good food, look elsewhere.

    Excellent all-round

I've eaten at Tale 5 times. I'm pescetarian so cannot speak to the red meat dishes. Overall the food and service have been excellent. The ingredients are very fresh, raw vegetables are very crunchy and spices have a lot of flavor. I highly recommend the blackened fish, summer rolls, tuna tartar. The food tastes fresh as opposed to greasy, which I find at a lot of Thai places. The only criticism I have of the food I've eaten there is the tofu in the Pad Thai is too large - but that's partly personal preference. The portion sizes are sufficient. I have a decent appetite and couldn't finish my main course (which followed a summer roll appetizer - and I was coming off a juice fast!), so I have to respectfully disagree with the review saying the portion size is small - I've always been satisfied. The service is great, if a bit hover-y. The atmosphere is more high-end than the menu prices would indicate - it would be a good date location. Overall I'm really glad there's now a good Thai restaurant on the UWS.

the best thai place on the upper west side

Tale has a fantastic decor in the restaurant and extremely friendly service. The dishes are extremely cheap and very good. I eat here almost 4 times a week because its just so good. I highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys good pad thai with incredibly fresh ingredients.

    X-C-LENT :)

Tale is by far one of the BEST Thai restaurants in the city let alone on the UWS. I've tried them all in the neighborhood, who hasn't and I think you'll find this thai restaurant simply one of if not the best. Give it a go, you'll be sorry you didn't !

    Will Try Again

I tried this new Thai place for lunch. The decor is great and very comfortable. The service was friendly and excellent. Everything seemed very fresh with top ingredients however the portions are very small. The food was salty. Perhaps growing pains but I will definitely try again because it is just too soon to tell and the ingredients were fresh and the space is very nice. Whichever way you slice it it is an upgrade from the previous restaurant by far.
