Fantastic Experience
This was my second time at Talay and I love this place! My server was phenomenal. She made sure that our experience was fantastic. She gave us a free chocolate cake for my husbands birthday. We both got the snapper and pineapple rice and it was yummy. Can't wait to go back.

Don't waste your time
I went to Talay on Saturday with 3 of my friends, (2 of which drove down from CT). The decor is really nice, but the food is really poor. There is nothing Thai, or Latin about the food. The food had no taste, and the portions are small, but I guess it has to be because who would eat more than just a few bites of food that has no taste. We were anxious to hurry and get out of there because the music was so loud that we could not hear each other speak. The food taste like it was made somewhere else and just re-heated there. We were all extemely dissappointed, I would never go there again not even for a drink, because the drinks were not good either. I would not recommed this place to any one, Oh and BTW, valet parking is $20 too expensive if you ask me.

Surprising disappointment
I went to Talay on Sat night, excited to try the food in this trendy creatively decorated and hip restaurant only to be disappointed. My friends and I ordered a bunch of appetizers and I got the pad thai as my main meal. I found the food to be very bland, no real flavor and my pad thai was the worst i've ever had. The pad thai tasted like noodles and ketchup I could barely fit a couple mouthfuls in. You would think the waitress would notice my disappointment but they were too busy trying to rush us out to let more people get in. The food was too expensive for the quality, and never a good thing to feel rushed. Overall, I would never go back here again, bad enough that it was a far trip for me.

Great decoration poor food and value
My girlfriend and I came here for dinner on a Friday night. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. It's clear that a lot of work went into the design of the place. So, we had good expectations going into ordering. Our server was very attentive, almost too much so. After the server explained that the focus of the restaurant was sharing plates, we ended up ordering two small plates and two large plates along with drinks. Five minutes later, the food began to arrive. We had two seafood plates, which were underwhelming. The large plates we ordered seemed like small plates, and everything seemed to lack a punch. So, after finishing our four dishes, we were still hungry. We ended up ordering the ropa vieja, which was the best dish we had all night - tender, but once again, too small a portion for the price. So, still hungry, we ordered a flan and another round of drinks for dessert, which was firm and tasty. However, after totaling up the check at $150 with tax and tip, and STILL hungry, we left unsatisfied.

ehhh
My husband and I went to Talay for some drinks and dinner early on a Friday evening. Unfortunately the waitress was overzealous and ruined our dinner although I know she meant well. After taking the 2nd small sip of my beer she asked if we wanted another round. She asked if we wanted dessert mid bite of my still half there dinner. She stopped by our table every 2 minutes, I am not joking. The dinner I wanted to chill at ended up taking a half hour. I was not happy. The food itself was ehhh. First we had some vegetable rolls that would have been just raw veggies wrapped in rice paper or whatever if it was not for the sauce. I have eaten a lot of Asian food and I have never been served anything so tasteless and that solely relied on separate "sauce". We also ordered the baby bok choy that was ok. The waitress explained the difference between the big and small plates while we ordered. We assumed when ordering the seared tuna we'd get a steak-after all it's a LARGE plate that the waitress said was meant to be shared-mind you we weren't expecting accompaniments. What my husband got was a small sushi sized roll of tuna and 3lb's of sauce. Disappointing. I ordered a small bowl of veggie rice that was great but still not worth the money. Hence I would go here for maybe a drink or too but I think I'd rather blow my money at a higher-end place than spend it at a place that tries but does not succeed. Tiny "large plate" portions that are really small plate portions are ridiculous and mind you we are not huge people that eat fast food and gorge. We know how to eat sensibly, Talay-Not sensible!

not as good as the decor
i went to talay and what a great looking place but the service was not as good as the decor, when you spend as much on decor as talay has you should have better service the food was good just a little underseasoned i had the ribs very tender but the manager brought out a spicy thai sauce for them and told me this is how they eat it in thiland well it was great and they should serve it with them always. hope they work out the kinks the hole block is changing looks great
