    Rude, Slow, No Credit Cards

Tourists please be advised if you want a "traditional" rude New York City bagel shop head to Tal Bagels. This over priced cattle call is not a place to head into on a slow Sunday morning even for some one like me who has lived in NYC for over 10 years. You walk in the door and you're automatically overwhelmed by 15 people behind the counter none of whom is willing to take your order. And if you don't pipe up, forget about it, you're left behind. Sorry, no bagels for you today. After the ordering nightmare if you do manage to get past the pushy crowds and staff you have to wait for the 15 people behind the counter to each figure out which one of their jobs it is to butter the bagel or fill up the coffee or run the register. Seriously I wanted to take a picture of this cluster f*&k of service. Then after the wait it's a $20 minimum for credit cards. That was it. I'm sure they have a deal with the guy next door who's 99 cent atm was filled up with tourists and locals alike who choose not to carry cash as it's the year 2010. After biting into the hard bagel, which I asked to be toasted but was lost in chaos, I went back to my apartment around the corner deciding then never returning to Tal Bagels.

    Cash only ?

For the person who is SO upset that they "let" you walk out the door because they didn't accept your creit card, CARRY CASH. Perhaps you don't realize that companies have to pay a fee for each transaction to the CC cos., but come on, it's more common that you might think, especially for small ticket items. For you to be upset because you are too forgetful or lazy (pick one), that's just ridiculous.

    cash only

I ordered a bagel with tuna fish salad. It was $6.99. A little expensive I think, correct me if I'm wrong. However I get to the counter and present my credit card and they said cash only. Perhaps it was my fault that I didn't ask if they accepted credit cards. However they presented me with the opportunity to go outside to the ATM and get cash and come back. I never came back and never will. It's stupid to let business walk out the door like this.

    no toasting because...

They don't toast because if you're a new york snob, you know that new york bagels are too good to toast. you toast stale or bad bagels. not new york ones. if you want a toasted bagel, go to texas.

    Bagels

bagels are amazing!!! They don't toast them which doesn't make sense. Also, it's very annoying-the 25 people that work there and bombard you with service, when i'm hungover and getting my bagel it actually makes the process more irritating.
