    best Turkish food in town!

I love the changes that have been made here! My Turkish husband and I ate here a couple month's ago and weren't that impressed, but after revisiting this weekend, the quality of the food has improved greatly! Now that they have a Turkish chef in the kitchen, the food is definitely more authentic Turkish. I especially love the lahmacun, a kind of pizza with really thin dough and chopped lamb, it's the best I've had in NYC! They also added doner, or gyro, to their menu and so we had to try that, and it was really great! And last, but not least, they've added my all time favorite desert, Kunefe! You just have to try it to understand!

    What happened??

What happened at Taksim? New owner? New chef? The food is not as good. The greek salad has a new dressing. The grilled chicken salad is completely different, and not in a good way. Even my adana kabob was tough and chewy. Would love to know why all the changes occurred.

Good for the money but not Great

The prices really can't be beat-- I mean a whole roasted fish for under $20 bucks-- the ezme was great as well-- The food is good but not spectacular-- However, if you get what you pay for

    Disappointed in the changes

I have regularly gone to Taksim for 5 years now, and always ordered the Greek Salad (at least once a week b/c it was THAT good). I learned recently that there will be a new menu and I noticed that the salad on 2 separate occasions was not as fresh, the dressing tasted different and the ingredients just didn't have the same flavor. I will likely not return to Taksim.

    What's in that hummus

Very good food. Honestly, some of the best hummus I've ever had.

    excellent seafood

Been here more than once, and I'm never disappointed. The fish is excellent, and prices are decent. I highly recommend the cankaya white wine.

Rules are meant to be broken!!!!!

There is good news and bad news about Taksim. The good is that the prices are fair, and the falafel sandwich/platter is the truly one of the best I have ever had. Now for the bad news... On multiple occasions, I have attempted to place an order but they have a $15 minimum for delivery. Yes, if I want my $5.50 falafel sandwich, I can go pick it up. But under NO circumstances can I order for delivery or eat in. The dine-in minimum is $12 (even when there is no one in the restaurant). I actually called and kept adding things I did not want to my order to get the total closer to $15. So, it came out to $14.57, and they still would not deliver.... so the woman who answered the phone suggested I can get another $2.00 soda or speak to the manager. The manager got on the phone, with a horrible attitude and re-iterated the store policy that I have to order more, or cancel it all together. They have no problem sitting on the phone with you arguing this issue, but again, will not send an order slightly under $15, to save their lives. With horrible service and zero flexibility like, they lose my business. As good of a falafel they have, it’s just not worth the trouble!
