My good friend took me there for my birthday and the best sushi place that I have been to in the City.

This is a decent place for a neighborhood Japanese restaurant. The food is nothing spectacular but if you stick to something simple you can have a pretty good, reasonably priced meal.

I order from here a couple of times a week and my boyfriend and I love it. I have never been in the actual restaurant. We usually order Apollo 13 and some Salmon sushi rolls. My only two wishes is that they served it in two seperate containers (I think it's important to save the enviroment too, but the Aplollo rolls falls apart when they are moved) and that they didn't close after lunch time to re-open at 5.30. I have busy schedule at work and sometimes don't have time to eat lunch before 3pm and then they are closed. Apart from that I am very satisfied, and would recommend this place to a friend.

I have tried both of the locations and I have to say this is the best sushi I have had since moving to NYC. The wasabi used is delish (not the hard eraser type of places use) and the sushi is always made to perfection. There is not one thing on this menu that I don't like. The only downside is that sometimes the place can get a little noisy because of how small it is. This is a relatively minor complaint though.

The food at Takahachi is great. The last time I ordered, the food arrived one hour and fifteen minutes later. I figured this was an exception. So I tried again. Same result. When I asked the delivery guy what the cause for the delay was, he replied "I have so many deliveries". Then guess what? Hire another delivery guy. This should not be my problem. Also, if you order soda, you get fountain soda - not a can or bottle. Not a big deal, but not ideal.

I've had lunch here several times and have become a fan of their donburi dishes. The rice is fresh and their eel and tempura are cooked to perfection. The donburi dishes are also served with two sides, which are a nice touch. While the sashimi is fresh, I found their sushi to be hit or miss. My last order's sushi rice was cold. Blah. The service, while friendly (with the exception of the grim hostess), is chaotic. Hopefully they'll iron out the kinks; seems as if there's been some turn over with their waitstaff.

Read all the reviews and went w/ some trepidation, however, that turned out to be completely unnecessary. Friendly phone reservationist, beautiful restaurant, and flawless sushi made for a wonderful lunch. the harachi was sublime as was the lobster tempura roll.
