Best Lunch-time bet
This is such a great deal for lunch - especially if you keep Kosher and are craving meat in the NYU area. Whenever I go there's always a huge line, but it moves quickly and the staff is very attentive. Some of the best schwarma and hummus I've had outside of Israel!

Tasty food, poor service
The great food is what kept me going but I finally got tired of the subpar service.

I Love this place -- toda raba, chickpea
I LOVE this place. It's clean. It's kosher. The food is fresh. The pita (choice of plain or whole wheat) is baked in the restaurant. It's authentic israeli food. If you speak a few words of hebrew to the staff, they'll probably throw in an extra smear of hummus (especially if you're a girl). I don't know why people even go to mahmoun's. For $1 more, you get amazing falafel/shwarma. Can't get enough of this place!

Great Cheap Place
Chickpea offers great pita sandwiches at the best value around. To be able to get a tasty fallafel and a drink for only a few bucks makes this a great place to stop for a light meal.

Great services!
The counter girl is the bomb! So nice and cool. The swarmas are the real thing and tasty! But it is real hot in there. But worth a great take out. Thanks!

Not so good
I don't what everybody is talking about - this falafel was not that good - certainly nothing to rave about. This was dry, not crunchy at all - and the spices used had a strange aftertaste (for me) - perhaps falafel from different regions of the middle east has its defining feature. For sure - the hummus was poor. The service was slow - atmosphere ok - but who cares cause the food was mediocre.

Hummus on the go
I would be willing to pay double the price for this food....but I don't have to! If you are near St. Marks and you want a quick and scrumptious snack, this is the place to be.
