    They've ruined Chickpea

What have they done? It's not good now. They've made all falafel healthy and baked. It's like eating raw falafel. They used to have the best falafel in the East Village and we'd eat here once a week. It's all gone. And it takes much longer to get your now awful baked falafel.

    what happened?

They changed the layout and the menu. Great! But what happened to the service?! They now say Hello and Thank You - 2 words they were clueless about until only a few weeks ago). Sweet! Gotten more expensive, but worth the price now.

    No Mas

Not sure what has happened to this place since it first opened but the steady decline in service, quality and value has made this place nearly unbearable. Moreover, they just renovated the place and the place is brown and dreary. I will no longer go there.

    They have changed their Menu

So I ate here a week and a half ago, and at that point they were still frying their tasty falafel. However, it appears in the last week and a half they changed the way they do things, and they no longer fry the falafel (or anything for that matter, so no more fries), but bake them. This has resulted in a dry, cold smaller falafel. I will not be eating here any more.

    Great food but poor staff

All their sandwiches and platters are great. Not the cheapest in town, but the quality looks superior than many other places. BUT, the staff has an bad attitude - plain snarky if you are even a bit indecisive while ordering. And the lady managing the cash the other day almost bit my head off - she didn't hear what I had ordered right and so processed the bill wrong. Whose fault was that!? There's one server and an older person in the "assembly line" who are very pleasant. But when they are not there, be prepared to glove up for a fight.

    Excellent food and awesome value!

I needed a quick bite before class and wanted to try Chickpea. I got the hummus and falafel plate, and it was amazing!! I couldn't believe how much they gave me- they filled a bowl with hummus drizzled with olive oil and seasoned with red pepper, 6 falafels, and 2 large fluffy pitas for about $6. The falafel was amazing and the hummus was out of this world. The place is perfect for a quick bite especially if you're alone - I sat at the counter. There's a back room here but the seats looked low and awkward. Definitely recommend for a quick, awesome, and inexpensive dinner. Totally filling too! Love it.
