Looking for Cali Mexican? Keep Looking!
1) Can't wrap a burrito 2) Guac is liquified and no avocado flavor 3) Chicken was dry 4) Steak is mediocre 5) Salsa is like colored water 6) Wrong Cheese and Lettuce (iceburg in a burrito w/ unmelted cheddar?) Maybe I sound overly negative but it's more that NY can't get Mexican right or even in the same ballpark as right. I gave high marks for value because it's cheap and high marks because they deliver quickly. At this point I want to bring a Mexican back from Los Angeles, San Diego or any of the other number of cities in border states that know beans are to be cooked overnight, salsa is to be red pepper hot, and lime/cilantro are integral components to balancing out the spicy flavor combination in mexican food.

Good food
My bf and I really enjoy this place. I've never been there so can't say anything about the actual restaurant. For less than $20 we get 2 meals - dinner and then lunch the next day. If I were to make what I get there it would cost twice that. Their guac is also good, though I add tomatoes and real avacado to get it the consistency I want. We will definitely continue to order from Taco House.

2nd fave chi-mex in city
also the people at taco house are willing to work with you if you want to tweak a menu item - sometimes i get black beans, vegetables and chicken, which isn't listed on the menu, and they can always figure it out right away. yay taco house.

not real mexican food
As the title says that place is just a cheap lunch place that is nothing special. The food seems fresh and is made right away. But don't expect anything special. To be fair I did live in San Diego for a couple years but I'd expect more than Hormel chili out of the can, Black Beans (unseasoned and not rinsed) out of the can, and American cheese melted on top.

NYC Cheap Mexican at it's Best
It's no Mary-Ann's... and if you're from California and you have high expectations for Mexican food, you're going to be disappointed. It's not authentic Mexican food, it's "NYC Cheap Mexican Food" and all these restaurants are Chinese-owned. If you're into "NYC Cheap Mexican", this place is fantastic. I actually timed them one time... between when I hung up the phone and the food arrived, less than 8 minutes had passed.. and i'm at least a 7 minute bike ride away.

Cheap, fast, delicious what more?!
If you want some classic New York Tex-Mex, this is the spot. The service is quick and friendly, with delivery much faster than expected every time. The food is consistently high quality, especially the grilled chicken, which can compete with some of the best in the city. The prices are low and worth every cent. I can't recommend the place enough if NY classic food is what you want, you'll be pleased. If you expect Cali or Mexico, move there . . .

good and fast
I think I might be taco house's best customer! Well at least i have been ordering from here for about 3 years and once a month on average. It is superfast (usually arrives within 20 minutes) and good quality. I like the chili enchilada , chili nachos, chicken tostada salad and the tacos are pretty good too.
