    Not recommended

we have been there for few times, and realy liked food. But a few days ago we were very disappointed with the manager's attitude! We made reservation for a birthday celebration, received a call confirmation, but when we came to restaurant we were told that reservation was canceled, and they could not to reach anyone on the phone. this restaurant is crowded all the time, but it is manager's job to organize everything!

Best Turkish kebab house in USA

I would claim that Taci is the best Turkish kebab house not in NYC but in the entire USA. Take it from me as a native Turk who lived and travelled around in this country more than 30 years. What you can eat in that place is the closest meals in Istanbul’s authentic kebab restaurants. I usually order mixed grill and Sheppard salad, and Kunefe for the dessert. Kunefe is also the best I have ever tasted outside of Turkey. May be fried calamari or cigarette borek would be my choice for an appetizer if I am hungry. I share the appetizer, salad, and dessert with my wife. Her entrée choices vary depending on her mood. She likes lamb chops and sword fish. Sometimes, she goes for Adana. All of those are good. I find the appetizer prices are high. This is not the case for only Taci but for all other Turkish restaurants. They all charge similarly. Although I like Lahmacun, as appetizer they bring 3 large of them. The price is OK for three because of their size but you cannot have room for the main course after eating all of them. I told them about making that a reasonable portions and the price but I could not get through their head. One drawback is the “no reservation” policy for a small party for the dinner during the weekends. You need to have at least 8 or more to reserve a table since their dining room is quite small for the weekend crowd. Then, you have to wait long line to get in since you would compete with large Russian families who frequent Taci more than native Turks. These people really eat. One time I witnessed that a Russian party with 10 had ordered about 15 appetizers before their main course. The dinner check would easily be over $500. Naturally, they are Taci’s preferred patrons. The other complaint that I have also for all Turkish restaurants I have been in the states is to pay for Turkish tea refills. No free refill for tea. I can understand that for Turkish coffee because of the labor involved for making it but paying $2 for each refill of Turkish tea is outrages. Those glass tea cups used to serve Turkish tea are a sewing thimble size comparing English tea cups.

Second Visit and Will be coming back!

I was introduced to this restaurant by a friend. The friend does all the ordering but I can tell you, every time the food has been great. I particularly enjoy the item called "cigars" (sigara), a shepard salad that they make that is huge and very tasty, fried eggplant with yogurt...although I'm going to try the hummus the next time, and the mixed grilled is very tasty. Plus, you can bring your own wine and they will open and serve it.

    A has been restaurant

Sorry to say, I have been going to this restaurant for years and I've brought friends and family. Everyone loved it. Tonight, I went in with friends. it was like a totally different place. Salad dressing had no taste, spinach pies were overcooked and dry; shishkabob was brought well done after being requested very rare, and the dessert, hard to believe was burned. I cannot go back. The prices have doubled in the last three months and the quality totally diminished. I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone.
