Won't Cut it in this Town

Is this a Govind Armstrong restaurant, because the menu seems like it was written by a sous chef at an airport hotel in Cleveland. Dull, uninspired choices that you could think up in your sleep. Tough octopus, bland green bean salad, dessert donuts with windex flavored whipped cream. The chef's either not home or hasn't tasted his concoctions because the food just isn't good. I'm sorry to say so because the space is gorgeous, and I love Table 8 in Miami. But, NYC is a survival of the fittest kind of town. Come fix it, Govind. This is yours to lose.

Too many other good places to go

The grilled scallop app was the only thing worthwhile. Scallops from the salt bar - bland and overwhelmed be a strong green broth. Grilled octopus - tough and bland Lamb Shank - so heavy with a sauce with mashed potatoes blended in? Desserts - fair There was way too much fat in the sauce on the lamb. Wouldn't eat there again.

    Couldn't Be Better!

After reading the terrible reviews that were written before my visit, I almost cancelled my reservation. My friends and I were so happy we didn't cancel. We did have early dinner reservations, 6:00, and that may have been one of the reasons we received such excellent, friendly service. The burrata and quail appetisers and the filet mignon, baby lamb chops and duck entrees could not have been better. The warm chocolate cake dessert was delish . The kitchen was told we were celebrating a birthday and sent another dessert with a candle for our birthday boy. We agreed that we would definitely do an encore visit.

    Awful service

The food wasn't terrible but the service was ridiculous. It was almost like all the waiters had just been promoted from busboy status that night. They had no clue about the food, wine...anything! It was almost funny. They were nice enough and I kind of felt bad for the guy because it seemed like nobody had trained him. Not going back...

    disappointed

the burger was okay - nothing special, but the staff messed up our order and overall didn't have their act together. not worth the price.

    I "second" the salt comment...

beautiful space...but even as a fan of salty foods...my lunch left me with the saltiest after taste. had the white bean soup and the steak sandwich. again...both very tasty while consumed...but I regret the decision. the staff seems a bit green and pretty slow considering it was relatively empty at lunch. would def go back for drinks at night.

    salt, salt and more salt

Unbelievable! I was at a large table and the overall consensus was that EVERY dish was too salty. I had the oak leaf salad and it was like someone had dumped a salt shaker on it. And I was crunching the salt crystals that were sprinkled all over it. I couldn't eat it. Then I ordered the chicken - once again it was swimming in salt. I tasted my friend's pasta - same deal. And forget about talking to anyone - the noise level is deafening. Just don't bother. The whole experience was so unenjoyable!
