This was an absolutely amazing meal. We arrived in time for the Prix-Fixe (5-7 PM Mon-Fri), which comes with 4 tapas, sangria and a dessert for only $26 -- AMAZING deal! Every single tapa was delicious and exquisitely presented. Our favorites were the goat cheese with honey and the Spanish tortilla (which were a la carte, not part of the Prix-Fixe) and the garlic shrimp. The atmosphere is lovely and the service was great (the meal started with a delicious potato soup compliments of the chef.) Oh, and the sangria is great -- always key for tapas! I've tried several other tapas restaurants on the Upper West and have been underwhelmed, so I'm thrilled that Taberna is so wonderful!

I am really not sure why this place isn't always full. The food, service, wine/beer list are all fantastic. There are a number of options which should suit everyone's taste. The atmosphere is definitely on the quiet side which I prefer. You can actually have a conversation with the other members of your party. We ordered about 10 different tapas all of which were very flavorful and good. Definitely will be going back.

This place is never too filled and the atmosphere is sort of depressing. The sangria is fantastic and the service is very nice. The food is good but very, very small tapas portions. I hope the menu changes to keep it fresh. A nice, quiet place to go to where everything seems fresh.

Went here for tapas for the first time and we were so jazzed that I had to write. Ingredients were so fresh they seemed like they were brought in from the San Miguel Market earlier in the day. Wine list rocked. Red sangria was super, and the menu variety pleased our entire party. Well done, folks!

Ate here for the first time last night and thrilled there's finally a real Spanish joint uptown. The portions are perfect, wine list great, and the ingredients seemed like they were just brought in from the market at San Miguel. The red sangria a delight, too. Keep on keepin' on!

Went to this restaurant on websites recomendation. Will not use websites recomendations again.Food was not authentic. Our Paella was soopy ,rice tasted not cooked and not flavorful. I ordered chorizo app.It was a cut up chorizo that tasted spicy with no taste.had a special ox-tail app, that was the best thing we had,it was OK. Service was good, waitress was smiling and attentive.Top hits playing for music. If you want authentic ,don't go here.

We have been coming to this restaurant regularly since it opened. The cava sangria is top notch. The menu is full of unique tapas dishes, my favorites include the baked goat cheese with honey, the squid stuffed peppers and the veal cheek in dark chocolate. Staff is super friendly, and the chef even comes table to table to say hello. It has a cozy, intimate feel. Definitely my favorite UWS wine bar!
