This place was great when it was a sit-down place on 76th and it is still great even though it is only takeout! Its nice that it is open 7 days now!

every time we try a different asian restaurant in the area, we usually end up regretting we didn't order from szechuan kitchen. My favorite is beef with snow peas as well as the mixed vegetable which has a nice light flavor - very well done. take out is blazingly fast.

ive never written a review for a restaurant here and i use it very often during work. but this place was good enough to make me come here and spread the word. i love chinese take out and order very often. this is by far the best that ive had. they have a simple and short menu and apparently have been open since 1974!!! this is my third time ordering (3 days in a row) and i highly recommend it. added bonus. delivery in the afternoons is phenomenally quick. i am 10 blocks away at presby and every time i call and order i get a call back within 5 minutes telling me that my food is on the way.

That's when I first discovered Szechuan Kitchen. It was a tiny sit down restaurant then with red walls and 10 tables. I found a parking space while tooling up 1st Ave. and brought home a variety of my favorites from 30 yrs ago. Szechuan Wontons and Noodles in Sesame Sauce - really just spicy peanut butter - delicious nonetheless, steamed dumplings - not overly doughy, Beef Chow Fun, not ruined with too much oil, and my favorite- Chicken in Peking Sauce - a bit sweet, a bit salty, still tastes the same as I remember. The portions are still huge, and all dishes except shrimp are still under $10. This place used to be open only from 5-10, and people would routinely spill out onto 1st Ave. It's now takeout only, but still as delicious.

For Chinese takeout, this is the TOPS! Great food served so fast, it's almost absurd. The ingredients–beef, shrimp or chicken are always fresh and they will cook the food lighter if you ask. It's simply a store "kiosk" so it's pick up or delivery only. the ONLY problem I have with the place is that their ribs are like these chopped rib niblets, which makes them impossible to eat off the bone. It's the only misfire in an otherwise great place. Highly Recommended!

I currently live in Los Angeles (and have lived in many other cities) and what they call "chinese food" out there could only get 3 stars at best by NYC chinese food standards. That being said, this is my weapon of choice. It's fast, their steamed dumplings are great, the food is great, it's one of the few chinese food experiences where you actually finish off all the leftovers and the value is unreal. The guy who runs the phone I think has been doing it since I started ordering and he doesn't have any accent, ordering takes less than a minute, and by the time SORRY, foods here. They're fast like that

My husband and I have been ordering for years! Very quick delivery- my husband jokes that he thinks they cook on the delivery bikes! Great food- fresh and consistent. We love the Beef dishes- they have a great char-grilled flavor. The lo mein is the best I ever had. Young Chow fried rice has shitakes and snow peas, shrimp, etc. Perfect every time we order-(over 15 years!!!)
