I went here for my 21st birthday, excited to be surrounded by great friends, great food, and of course, jazz music. From the beginning, we were greeted in an unfriendly manner, forced to have our coats checked-in, when in reality, the restaurant only wanted to make extra cash from our check-in (when I denied having out coats checked in, the hosts loudly said to one another, "Well there goes our extra $13). Our waiter was rude to us the entire night, not informing us about happy hour while we waited for one more member from my party to arrive, nor speaking to us in a friendly way, nor being attentive to our table. Perhaps this restaurant is age-ist, clearly from the fact that the majority of patrons are in their 60s. Nonetheless, the food was not worth the price- Nothing special. I order the salmon, and salmon from college dining halls are just as good. Aside from the poor service and poor value of the food, I liked the atmosphere and jazz music. However, I do not recommend this restaurant at all due to poor service and poor value of food.

We came here to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday a couple of weeks ago. The service started out strong, but once our food arrived we were barely looked at again. I got the scallops and he got a steak. We also ordered a side of sweet potato fries. My meal was decent, nothing amazing. But a couple of major problems... 1. We asked for ketchup and never got it. (For our fries) 2. My boyfriend had to use a butter knife to cut his steak! He was never given a steak knife. 3. His steak, although a large size was covered in fat and half was not edible. Of course we tried flagging down staff members for ketchup and a knife, but no one seemed to care. I figured out why in the end....tip is included! The staff at this restaurant needs to be more available to thier customers after meals are brought out. On a side note this place is a joke. I've never seen more 35+ year olds pathetically lurking around the dancefloor looking for dance partners. It was creepy!

Went to Swing 46 this past weekend, and had a great time! The food is excellent...I recommend the Swing Salad, my husband couldn't get enough of it! The cocktails are really fun and the bar staff personable. The atmosphere is great and service was better then anywhere else I've been in midtown on a Saturday night. Great time definitely go!

Went to Swing 46 before a show in May 2005. The place was empty (bad sign). The overpriced meals were mediocre at best and the dessert looked like something that had come right out of plastic wrap. The servers misquoted the price of drinks, charging several dollars more!

I'm from Kansas we went to New York for vacation. This place was such a treat, great atmosphere the employees were wonderful. The food was great, there was nothing about this place that I did not enjoy. I would highly recommend Swing 46 to anyone.

Word of mouth, highly recommended, had a great time, professional swing dancers, involved all of the dinner guests for free dance instructing, was great fun and we had a great time, food was excellent, atmosphere the greatest...will definitely return.
