Sweet Life Staple
The Sweet Life cafe is a fantastic spot for good food and great people. It is a staple of my week for breakfast and/or lunch. Hard to argue with the breakfast sandwich, the eggs and homefries, and the multitude of sandwiches available at this little cafe/diner. The chicken salad sandwich is on the top of my list this week.

Not Good
I can't believe the good reviews of this place. I went on a recent Saturday afternoon, and the place was dirty, the silverware and glasses were sticky and the host/waiter was the loudest, most annoying guy I could ever imagine working in a restaurant! Yes, he was friendly, but he was ridiculously loud and just a total annoyance. And the food... my pesto omelette tasted bizarre, and of course it wasn't a real omelette -- it was just scrambled eggs with some stuff mixed into it and pressed flat. My friend had shrimp scampi, but the sauce tasted so bizarre and weird that it tasted like something out of a cheap bottle or can.

Biggest Bang For Your Buck
Yesterday I went to the Sweet Life and had the best breakfast I have ever had. I got to meet John and Dolly and they were very sweet and down to earth not to mention hysterical. I had the Exceptional Omelette with the best coffee in town. The food was so good that I went back for lunch. I got the $4.95 lunch special sandwich with a free soda. Not only was it delicious but it was also very affordable.Definitely recommend this place.

Hit or Miss
Being that this is the only diner near our place, me a couple of friends always order from this place everyday and like my title says..its either a hit or miss especially for lunch.

one of our best little finds in the west
We were in the West Village for 10 days this past august (myself from oz, and a friend and her daughter from Ontario)and we consider this to be one of our great finds in the area. The gals serving were a treat and the menu was great value.....definately worth the walk up from Sheridan Square for the best breakfast baps in NYC....lol....We will definately be going back on our next visit to Nyc...thanks gals(and guys..lol) for making our trip just that more memorable...You are a credit to both the owner and yourselves!! julie

Best Cafe in the West Village...
Dolly who runs Sweet Life is an absolute pleasure. The food is fantastic, big portions, cheap prices, very freindly, Favorite low key cafe in NYC and I have lived here for almost three years. It's a bit far down on Christopher Street, but worth the walk. The Bank sandwich is my favorite! Go and support this gem!
