Bland Indian Food
I found the Goan Fish Curry to be quite bland--tasted like generic curry from a Heinz tomato paste can. The fish was overcooked and generally gave the impression that it had been sitting around in a heating tray waiting to be served for some time. Also ordered was the Chicken Tikka Masala, which, while an improvement on the Goan Fish, was still generally far inferior to the masala curry found at the old Bawarchi on 1st Ave, which was itself only mediocre. The naan was fresh but clearly not made in a tandoori oven. The Mango Lassi was sweetly tart and the best part of the meal. On the whole, a disappointment and terribly overpriced for dinner. But on the plus side, delivery was fast.

great UES indian joint !
We just returned from a dinner at swagat and we loved the food ! One of the best Indian joints on the UES from the 60's - 80's . Must try dish - saag paneer and the dessert - rasmalai . The food was very tasty . Will go back !

OK for a local place
This is the old Dakshin restaurant so the atmosphere is medi-ocre. The saag paneer was OK but the cheese was a trifle hard and somewhat unappetisingly discolored. The spinach seemed thin and rather tasteless. Nonetheless, it's a local indian and given the apparent demise of Bawarchi across the street which in my opinion was much better until recently, it's OK as a local indian place and will do until something better hopefully appears.

Delicious!
Samosas were awesome (and I'm picky) and the tikka masala was perfect. Finally! I found my local Indian place!
