    Rip off city

This was one of the most rip off meal we ever had. 22 people went for a b-day dinner and the food was good but when the bill came out it made everything taste like sandpaper. The food wasn't that excellent to have them charge us that much. We were only given prix fixe dinner. They set the price for everyone. we didn't even knew what they were giving us. That should be a red flag there. We were only told that the average meal would be 65 per person. They gave us a few appetizer, but later found out that they charged 9 dollars for one skewer of chicken that had only three pieces (size of a half dollar). This was crazy. It wasn't even the best chicken I ever had to be charged that much. The bass was 12-13 dollars for one skewer. And you guessed it, it only had three pieces on it. The bill came out to be 100 dollars per person. They took advantage of us because it was a large group of people that would have over looked the bill. Half the people got up and go to the atm to get money. We didn't want to complaint because it will ruin the b-day's girl experience so we looked the other way. BUT never again will I ever come back to this rip off joint again. Plus the sushi they gave us was all fillers with no special sushi (no dragon roll or any fancy) and 9 pieces of sashimi to split for 4 people.

    happy hour

This place has an amazing happy hour on sundays through thursdays from 4-7pm the prices are just right and the food is stellar. I've been to many places in NYC and i can assure you that this is a top-notch experience. And the typical Sushi Samba prices are not at all reflective of their Happy Hour.

good food... if you dont get the sushi

sushi samba is one of my favorite places and i normally LOVE their sushi. however, i was really disappointed when i went over the weekend and the sushi was something you'd get from cheap takeout. i dont know if it was the location (i ususally go to the other one) but it seems like their cutting corners a lot. the el topo roll (which is $13.50 for 6 pieces) was just a huge chunk of rice with melted cheese and onion rings on top. i actually had to lift the cheese off to see if there was even any fish in there (2 pieces had none). the rest of the food we ordered was pretty good. the rock shrimp appetizer is amazing, the plantains were good. my boyfriend ordered the chilean seabass and i wish i had ordered that instead. for dessert we got the chocolate banana cake (also really good). im hoping it was just an off night, but i doubt i'll ever order sushi from their again

    One of my favorites

This place is one of my favorites in NYC. Great ambiance, great food, great drinks. I highly recommend sticking to sushi (their appetizers are also great). Try their fusion rolls and you'll be hooked. Also for drink selections definitely get the Mora Negra. Yes, the place is a little expensive and you will not be full from just a roll, yet the food and drinks are so delicious it keeps me coming back. This isn't your typical sushi placeif you just want a California roll don't go here, go to your corner sushi place. But, if you want something different and willing to try unique rolls, then this is your place. Also, be aware that their drinks are expensive so though they're delicious, they add up after a few!

    Gimmick, don't bother

Does neither of Brazilian or Japanese well. Sad to say bad at both. More gimmick than anything else and even the "beautiful" people who are trying to be seen there should find better places to go hang out.

    Awful Waiter

I went here for Reastaurant Week and I must say I was completely turned off by the cockiness of the waiter. As far as the food- so not impressed as I seem to never be by these super "trendy" places. Now I can say I've been there, I can add the food was medicore, and the service was awful- NEXT!
