    Disappointing Service

I recently went to samba for a late brunch and had the worst service experience ever. The waiter brought the drinks out 15min after he took our order and then forgot to put in our actual food order (took him 20min to realize). Then he told us that our appetizer was no longer being served but other tables around us had it (he later mentioned that he was wrong and would bring one out - after the main course). When the actual food arrived after a long wait - he got the order wrong!

    Wow!

Wow! I was really impressed with the food and service here. While the restaurant is kind of loud, if you're into a trendier, colorful, and fun place then Sushisamba is perfect. The food was sooo good, great ingredients and flavor combinations - get the seabass miso and the yellowfish taquitos! The sushi was amazing especially the El Topo roll. The waitress was incredibly helpful, particularly with our dessert choice (chocolate banana cake) SO good! The drinks were also very tasty. The restaurant is a little pricey and the portions are not huge by any means, but I thought the food was unique and creative enough to warrant a premium. I would definitely go back and recommend this to groups of friends and couples for a fun dinner/date night.

    Great food but pretentious service!

I honestly think the food is good here. The sushi is always fresh and the drinks are delish (but, yes, expensive). What bothers me the most, though is the service. Each time I go with a reservation, I'm forced to wait at least 30 minutes for my table even though I always show up with my full party on time. Several times I've popped in on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening and the hostesses have acted like I owe them my first born for seating me at a shitty seat by the bar. Really? It's not even that busy!! My recommendation is to order their delivery. If you live in the area you can still enjoy the good food and avoid the terrible service!

    Should be a Landmark ...

Sushi Samba is always a sure thing, great food, up-beat energy, and always experienced quaility service. In regards to the last review, nobody should go out on a date with that cheap person (1 drink limt?).

    So many other GREAT places

If your looking to HANG and you just happen too feel like sushi - then this is the [lace for you. The service is so slow compared to the prices they charge. But most outrageous were the drink prices!!! Don't plan on having more than one drink with your meal and if your with a date let her have the drink and you can have water - you're still going to pay about 80 bucks for 2 small meals. Greenwich Village has some great restaurants - why anyone would go here more than once to check out their roof top scene is beyond me. When I eat out I want good food, great service and no gimmicks. Except for the quality of the food (good but small portions and over prices) they struck out on all three of my requirements for a return visit.

    Food is consistently good

I've been going to Samba7 for well over 3 years and have not once had a bad samba7 roll- its simply amazing and I have no problem paying the $16 for it. The asparagus is also delicious. You have to actually try their food, not just regular sushi you can get anywhere else. The service is poor, its pretty much been that way every single time, but I'll consistently go back for the samba7 roll. I've also tried a variety of other dishes, not just the generic sushi you can find for less at an actual sushi bar, and they've all been delicious. Highly recommend going for lunch as its usually empty and there are really no blatant service/seating issues.

    I love the El Toro!

It was my very 1st time going there..i went with one other person...the atmosphere is very cozy and the colors light the room..definatley a place to go before the clubs...not being a big sughi person i usually order california rolls anywhere else..the waiter suggested i get el toro..my life has changed for ever...it was so delicious...the prices are high but i think what i paid for my meal was good..i got there on a Sat. around 1:55am and the service was slow and the menus were badly placed...how was i suppose to know that they were behind back..anyway it's good spot and worth the try..
