We went to Sushi Zen at the end of January before catching a Bway musical. As ALWAYS, the food was top notch, the service was very gracious and the pricing reasonable. We were happy with the specials and all the recommendations made by our waitress. It was nice to see Japanese patrons at this restaurant - a sign of high quality! We are looking forward to coming back again.

My husband and I are frequent patrons of sushi restaurants, but we were disappointed with our experience at Sushi Zen in New York City. Sushi Zen does not offer quality sushi, given the expensive prices on the menu. I would highly suggest going to another sushi bar/restaurant in the area for better quality sushi. Expect to pay about $8-10.00 per piece, not per roll. The servers and staff are basically over your should while you dine, and the general atmosphere is not exciting.

Don't understand what all the fuss is about this restaurant. We waited over 30 mins for our table even though we had a reservation. The food is ok, but way over-priced. Not worth it.

Great place for expensive sushi - great taste, fresh fresh fresh, good place for business - good place at night for a date.

Sushi Zen is a very nice atmosphere, a bit tight with the seating, during the day many business lunches, very busy...you should definitly make a reservation! The food is outrageous! Mmmmmm so good! Clean, good service, good food! A bit on the pricey side but its worth it! What else can you ask for!

I think this is a very creative sushi place. Good for an intimate business lunch or dinner.

I agree to disagree with the previous reviewer, icemancometh. The sushi here is actually top-grade, with sparklingly fresh, often unusual cuts of fish. Additionally, the $25 Chef's Special Sushi is quite a steal for the quality and artful choice of flavors and textures. This is a great place for an elegant sushi meal and all its trappings, including wonderful cooked offerings. Prices pale in comparison to nearby Japanese nirvanas Sushi Yasuda and Kuruma zushi. Try it!
