Better than most
I love sushi, and have ordered from many restaurants around the area. I am not sure about the atmosphere in the restaurant, but they are always punctual and pleasant in delivering. Their fish is always fresh, their chirashi is the only one in the neighborhood that actually comes with the special sauce on the rice, and for spicy tuna and salmon lovers-their special chef rolls are amazing!

Good Food, Convenient
When we are in the mood for a decent Japanese dinner but don't want to spend a lot of money or time out, we go to Sushi Yu and are never disappointed. The food is consistently good and the service is very fast and friendly. Although the menu is more limited, and the atmosphere is modest, the quality of the food is on a par with most, more expensive, Park Slope Japanese restaurants.

Most mediocre sushi in Park Slope
I could name at least six other sushi places in Park Slope to go to instead. The sushi isn't very good, and their prices are too high. Even if I had an intense craving for sushi and this was the only place open, I still wouldn't order from here.

A Bad attempt at Japanese food.
Japanese food isn't like pizza or tacos, you can't just throw some ingredients together and get good Japanese food, especially sushi. It takes some skill. However the folks who run Sushi Yu don't seem to know this. Their food is a poor imitation of japanese style food. The flavors are all wrong. Don't bother with this place unless you want an overpriced knock- off.

sashimi fail
we ordered a chirashi and a sushi dinner. the sushi was ok, but not great. the sashimi was no good from top to bottom. the salmon was mushy, the eel was all skin, no fish, the mackerel tasted really off... as for price, it's a little cheaper than Ten, but it's not cheap. we spent $35 on a lousy meal that i couldn't bring myself to finish. very disappointing.

Consistantly great sushi, consistantly great service.
I have been eating here for a very long time and despite the price raise (which is never enjoyable) the sushi continues to be of a great quality particularly when they get the fresh fish in on Tuesdays and Fridays. The chefs are great and staff is incredibly personable. They are very attentive and always remember the regulars. I would recommend this place to anyone and will continue going despite the price increase.
