    Mediocre (at best) Overpriced Sushi

I eat sushi all the time. We have put this place off for lunch for quite some time, but decided to try it today. How disappointing. For the price they charge, you would expect this to be top quality, instead it is mediocre at best. The lunches come with two sides and a choice between carrot, carrot and cabbage wasabi or cabbage. We had all of them and the only good side was the miso soup. The salads were disappointing. Service was good, quick. Staff was helpful and nice. Needless to say, would never go back.

    Sushi Shop on Madison avenue

I ordered delivery from Sushi Shop the other day and it came pretty quick (half an hour after I placed the order). I ordered the Lunch F, which is a choice between salmon sashimi or a salmon avocado chirashi. I opted for the salmon avocado chirashi and for $14.95, it also came with a choice of salad (I got the cucumber dill salad) and a miso soup or rice. I got the miso soup since the chirashi is a rice platter.  I also got a spicy tuna roll. Everything was very neatly packaged and pretty impressive.  The wasabi packet was grated wasabi - something you don't see very often in these parts.  The miso soup tasted just like my mom's with a hint of rice wine and was pretty damn good.  It was a pretty good sized portion, too.  The cucumber dill salad was refreshing but I thought it was a little bland. I added a little kosher salt and it tasted better to me. The spicy tuna roll was standard, nothing special, and it tasted good.  The salmon avocado chirashi was very pretty to look at and it was fresh and good. The total bill came out to be around $25 which is a very pricey lunch for me.  It's better than other sushi takeout places and it's definitely not excellent sushi but it's pretty decent.  I would go back here to get sushi if I'm too lazy to pick up some from Katagiri (where I usually get my sushi fix) Someone from the restaurant called to ask me if I wanted the sashimi platter or the chirashi (since Seamless Web failed to let me put what I wanted) within five minutes after I placed the order.  It sounded very busy and crowded at the restaurant so I'm not sure what it's like during the lunch hour at the restaurant.  It sounds busy so that's a good sign! I was content and full after my meal.  I would definitely go back to try the other stuff on the menu, which looks great!
